    Connecting aerial to TV

When my old TV died some years ago I decided to just watch TV through my PC. Recently someone gave me a TV because they had bought a smart one. I still have the TV aerial on my roof but with only about 2 metres of cable attached, as I cut the rest off (silly me!) So I'll have to buy a length of...

    Washer screw corroded

Thanks for that. When I got the valve off and looked at the washer I couldn't see any grooves on it (i.e. the face of the washer) but perhaps you mean the sides of the washer round its circumference? I did notice when I took the valve off that the internal thread that the valve goes into was...

    Washer screw corroded

Thanks for replying. No, the washer doesn't look too bad, although it's flush with where it's seated, and I assumed that a new washer would stand somewhat proud of its seat and would do the trick. I'm not sure what you mean when you ask if the innards have unwound themselves.

    Washer screw corroded

The hot water tap to my bath has reduced to a trickle so I'm trying to change the tap washer. I've got the tap valve out, but the cross-head screw holding the washer is corroded and when I tried to unscrew it the screw head just crumbled so the screwdriver was just going round, with no purchase...

Sealing a crack in toilet cistern

Thanks mate. Actually I already knew what it was when I posted my comment but somehow I think my attempt at a humorous reply wasn't picked up.

Sealing a crack in toilet cistern

Thanks, might try that next ... wattle and daub? Do Screwfix do it?

Sealing a crack in toilet cistern

I think the colour of your cistern is slightly different to that of mine. If we didn't live so far apart (approx. 280 miles) I'd perhaps collect it and see how close a match it was, but the distance rules that out really. Anyway, thanks again for the offer.

Sealing a crack in toilet cistern

Thanks but the problem I have is that my bathroom suite is ancient and it's in Bermuda blue. I've looked online at cisterns in that colour and they're around the £400 mark

Sealing a crack in toilet cistern

In my original post, by mistake, I gave the wrong information. I said that my cistern was ceramic. I don't know what I was thinking of when I said that! It's not ceramic ... it's plastic! Anyway, I didn't realize my mistake until I'd bought some CT1 and applied it. Unfortunately, it hasn't...

Fitting new diaphragm to toilet cistern ball-cock valve

Ah, I think I've done it the other way round ie. the screw at the end of the float arm pressing against the proud bit. But the good news is that it seems to have worked. Anyway, thanks for your help.

Fitting new diaphragm to toilet cistern ball-cock valve

That's great, thanks. And the bit at the centre of one side of of the diaphragm that's slightly raised from the rest, I've got pointing to the arm and float ... is that right?

Fitting new diaphragm to toilet cistern ball-cock valve

That was the next step if this didn't work but if someone is able to help by answering my questions that would really help me. Thanks.

Fitting new diaphragm to toilet cistern ball-cock valve

The ball-cock valve in my old toilet cistern is leaking, so I decided to replace the valve and the arm. The plumber's merchant guy suggested I might only need to replace the rubber diaphragm in the valve so that's what I've tried to do but it's still leaking. There are a couple of parts in the...
