Architrave Finishing - Advice on gaps

Oh no, I get that, but it wasn't the cheapest quote, so I'm not happy with this part of the work either. They didn't mention any noticeable high spots at the end of the plasterboard, nor did my untrained eye and when sticking a level on it, it seemed pretty much bang on, hence why I was...

Architrave Finishing - Advice on gaps

The plaster finish on the plasterboard looked like this around the door before the architraves were put on (it's the only image I've got as it was relating to the light switch on a different post so it's pretty crap in terms of showing it but I don't think was proud from what I can remember...

I thought I was going mental to be honest with you looking at it

Architrave Finishing - Advice on gaps

Afternoon all, I've recently had a bunch of new frames, doors hung and new architraves in my house. For the most part, the architraves fit snugly with only 2-3mm gaps, which I reckon a quick bit of decorator's caulk will sort. However, a couple of them have disconcerting 10mm+ gaps. One of...

Light Switch not fitting flush to wall (Screwed plate)

Gonna double check the boxes today, make sure there's no debris then give it another go. If nothing then I'll probably look to change the switches

Light Switch not fitting flush to wall (Screwed plate)

I don't think so, and it's on a fresh skim coat so it should be. In pic 1 you might be right with the innards as there are a lot of wires due to it being a 3-gang. Weird as the bottom looks to be sitting pretty flat. Pic 3 is on new boards with a skim coat over too so should be completely flat.

Light Switch not fitting flush to wall (Screwed plate)

Yeah even though the 1-gang says 16mm minimum and 2/3-gang 25mm I actually have a 25mm metal back box for the 1-gang and 35mm metal back box for the 3-gang. It doesn't seem right to me at all and not sure why they're sitting so bowed

Light Switch not fitting flush to wall (Screwed plate)

Evening! I've recently run into an issue with LAP 10AX brushed stainless steel light switches I'm fitting at home (with the help of my old retired sparky dad). Despite having a flat profile, they aren't sitting flush against the wall. Strangely, they seem to be bowing a bit. I've attached a...

Skim job - Am I justified in asking a plasterer to come back?

Started getting some marks out but not completely.

Skim job - Am I justified in asking a plasterer to come back?

Thought so... Also noticed some tiger stripes today on the finish which is wonderful.

Skim job - Am I justified in asking a plasterer to come back?

The finish on the downstairs apart from a couple of minor sections is actually good. It's just the rush job on the upstairs, and ngl the mess. Kind of concerned the plaster isn't going to come out of the skirting and the composite front door

Skim job - Am I justified in asking a plasterer to come back?

I haven't yet, going to try and maybe get sections re-skimmed first?

Skim job - Am I justified in asking a plasterer to come back?

So they did and went round and used some fine polyfilla to fill in the gaps and then said get the decorator to sand it down... I don't know about you but after paying £1300 for the job which was the average quote I got, I'm feeling a bit let down if I'm honest...

Skim job - Am I justified in asking a plasterer to come back?

Yeah I will do, at least it's good to know I'm not just being overly pedantic on this

Skim job - Am I justified in asking a plasterer to come back?

Oof really? It is two coated and the downstairs feels like smooth like glass on 95% of it. It's just a few problem areas I've seen, think the upstairs was done by one guy, downstairs by the other. What sticks out as making it look like DIY standard job?

I'll be using someone who did my friend's place so a word-of-mouth recommendation. I added in pictures of the overall finish to my previous comment

Skim job - Am I justified in asking a plasterer to come back?

So fairly common then to have to sand the walls even after a skim coat? I'll share some wider pictures as granted these are close up of the bad areas. Re the socket plate, it was removed. Downstairs is pretty much perfect especially the newly boarded wall

Skim job - Am I justified in asking a plasterer to come back?

I recently had my hallway, landing and stairs skimmed (as well as needing some new boards for a stud wall in the hallway) and the overall finish to me seems good but there are just some parts that I'm not completely happy with. There are more than the below images but largely, there are some...

Inside Pendant & Outside Light Wiring: Is This My Only Option?

Afternoon all, I have a situation in my house that I could use some advice on. In the hallway, there is a disused light fitting (ceiling rose present but no bulb attachment when moved in) that would have been connected to the switch pictured near the door: There's also an outside light...

Replace or repair door frames & architraves?

That's what I was thinking. I think the bathroom and kitchen straight up need replacing but the living room MIGHT be okay. Had some issues already just getting a chippy out to quote for a simple job like this, then had a quote of over 1k for 3 frames and 3 standard doors, but I'd have to rip...
