Atheism is the 'real' enemy of the west?

I just wish the aliens that merged our genes with chimps hadn't left our brains at 10% running capacity....either that or make an appearance again to shut up these warring religious gangsters and make the f***ing penny drop in their sub 10% even worse wired up brains that we're all on this ship...

Getting rid of weed on block paved driveway

I'd use weedkiller- Rosate 36 is a pretty strong one. Entrenched weeds can't be pulled out especially in tight joints without usually ripping out the sand/mortar. I've just done all around my house last week and it's working a treat. Kept the dog off the garden for 2 days, and didn't go mental...

Neighbour refused permission for me to paint her fence

I'm really confused now....for example, she has put in a load of blobs of concrete supporting some posts at given intervals which, subsurface, are on your land. You then(hypothetically) decide to exercise your right to build a wall that needs a strip foundation and your external face will be...

Gravel weight by volume and trailer size...

:x :x :x :x :x FFS....despite it on their website they don't hire tippers, they do however hire 17T tippers and/or the skip idea at 48+vat per hour.... but that means coordinating the truck from one company to be able to access quarry from the other company 2-3 times if using the skip...

Neighbour refused permission for me to paint her fence

What a load of nonsense really. So you could both in theory fence to the boundary back to back and neither have any access for maintenance?! I'd be scrutinising my deeds to see exactly where the boundary is- if she's gone over by putting in posts with concrete etc I'd point this out ask her to...

Gravel weight by volume and trailer size...

Found a quarry(Quarry A) just north of Aviemore that could have delivered gravel to ours using skips- 2 x 8T loads would have been £290 all in- sounded great but we went there to see what their gravel was like and too much pink granite in it and not graded too well so that's out the question...

Gravel weight by volume and trailer size...

I asked at the quarry a while back for prices for various materials per tonne and was told that they could do small loads on these trailers no problem- they probably just use the corner of the bucket! The main problem where I live is the shared driveway....whilst being good neighbours and...

Gravel weight by volume and trailer size...

Oh the irony....I have a sand and gravel quarry just 3-4 miles away. They only deliver with a 21T lorry which would struggle to get in as the turning is tight and the delivery costs are huge. I've 135sqm to gravel probably using their 10-14mm rounded grey stuff. I have a Daxara trailer (1.45m x...

Using decking boards instead of gravel boards???

I got all my decking and the joists from Russwood in Newtonmore last year. Don't think they do gravel boards and unfortunately my next nearest sawmill is BSW in Boat of Garten and they don't sell to the general public....!!! I try and avoid the sheds for timber, wanted this down quick though!

Using decking boards instead of gravel boards???

Just went for gravel boards in the end. They will be in the ground so will just see how long they last.

Using decking boards instead of gravel boards???

Just had a look on Wickes site again- confusion.....are these timbers coated in concrete or something? (I'm a stonemason by trade if this is the best thing on offer I'll buy a pallet of blocks and do it with them!)

Using decking boards instead of gravel boards???

Obviously, and cost 3 times as much and the ones from wickes are 10 times thicker, eating into the gravelled area, never mind the weight of 15 of them in my wee van. Yes I know they'd outlive me etc but I was hoping for advice on how gravel boards and decking in permanent ground contact compare...

Using decking boards instead of gravel boards???

I had edged the side of our lawn a few years back when the soil was put down with boulders from around the garden (we're talking 28 metres)... An absolute bu**er to strim the edges, and now the border(3m) around the house is getting gravel put around it I want a nicer interface between...

Connecting a second Sky box to same telly....

Used a triple RCA cable the way Chris suggested- old box to recorder via scart, back to telly via these 3 cables. Sky+ direct to telly via scart.... All works perfectly! Cheers folks!!!

Connecting a second Sky box to same telly....

Just read that Sky boxes can't go through component via the scart? So I've ordered a RF coaxial male-female cable which is the oldest method of connecting the box to the tv direct. Can't see an easier option really.....!!

Connecting a second Sky box to same telly....

I've just cancelled my Sky+ subscription, it went off today. I have an old Sky box, and the Sky+ one. The old one will be connected to my panasonic hard drive/dvd recorder- it's far better than the + system because using autoview programming in conjunction with manual programming of the record...

    Is overtime compulsory?

Done some calcs looks like I'd be better off just paying it back regardless. If the OT ends up being compulsory even if I went to basic hourly rate for 2 days a month I'd be close to the threshold. So 2 weeks a month, might as well stay on double time and reduce the debt.... I'd much prefer it...

    Is overtime compulsory?

Just found this- http://www.lawyerlocator.co.uk/lawyer/legal_issues/get_article/id/254/termination-of-employment-contracts/ Seems under 2 years is a weeks notice....So if paid monthly and I wanted to quit they'd expect me to give at least a months notice. But if they want shot of me they...

    Is overtime compulsory?

Hi y'all, Can anyone advise whether OT is compulsory? Been at my job 10 months and since November we've been "expected" to do alternate Sundays. It's double time per shift but this additional money is going to screw up my student loans threshold, to the point if I start paying it back I'm...
