    Best Porcelain tile cutter?

I have 2 rubi cutters, a cheap small one which is ok, a ts40 which is great, and a husqvarana like this but longer. The husqvarana's are overlooked, they are very good. I love mine! I wouldnt say they are better than rubi, but they are certainly as good. Cheaper too.

    Seriously stupid wall mounting question.

First off, let me say, ive never owned a flat tv  We will eventualy get a nice tv to wall mount in our living room. Buying the TV is not high on our priority list though, we have the whole house to renovate. I want to sort out the aerial and power sockets ready though, i want to...

    Damp membrane help please.

As i say, was going to board the lower half of the walls to protect membrane, fixed into walls above the membrane. Not sure how i'd fix the bottoms but i'd sort something. Fair bit of faff boarding all round the piers though. Its the awkwardness of laying the membrane up all the walls...

    Damp membrane help please.

Ive started laying the blocks for my garage but am now unsure if my plan is ok. Its not 100% a garage, will be general workshop so im trying to get it snug and dry. One short wall with the opening has floor just above outside ground level, but all other 3 walls have ground level 4 blocks...

Existing gullies have raised surrounds, but i could change that. Is it ok to add more gullies and pipe them into the existing pipework? I was a landscaoers labourer for a year or so when i was young, have fitted lots of gullies and drainage but im sure i read somewhere that that needs...

    What am i doing wrong?

Ive been trying to plaster our kitchen. Im a tiler by trade. Ive watched many plasterers, they make it look easy. It isnt! Ive now done one big wall (will be mostly hidden by units), 2 small walls and a little bit of ceiling. I still have 3 big walls and the main ceiling to do. I...

    paving drainage

No thoughts? The main things that are causing me trouble are the fact its clay (permeable wont drain properly), the fact the fall is quite strong, and not knowing if it needs to meet regs.

    Hidden fixing shelf, heavy loads.

No, not an error. Ill look into the hangers, see if i can make it work. I have changed the design a little which might help too. The shelf will be in each alcove either side of the fireplace and will now run straight across the chimney breast creating a mantle above the fire. Make...

    Hidden fixing shelf, heavy loads.

Ive made loads of bases, a simple base of sheet chipboard is more than enough to hold a fish tank. However, i dont want any kind of support underneath, just a hidden fixing shelf in an alcove.

Advice needed: Building a roof for block workshop

Ill be doing similar soon. I was going to board the roof, then fit a rubber roof. I was then planning on insulating between the joists, leaving a vented gap between the insulation and the loft boards. Ill be cheaping out here with polystyrene or rockwool. Then board with plasterboard...

    Hidden fixing shelf, heavy loads.

Yeah, solid brick. 1950's built ex council house so its all pretty sturdy. What about the framework. 2" box steel overkill? I have some 2" angle i could use, or i could use a framework of 3x2 timber. Would be simpler to attach the boarding to make it look solid. Most of the load will be...

Oh, back to front fall is about 1 in 10. Front garden a bit more. Front lawn will also be a bit higher than the path.

    paving drainage

Hi, ive been searching the net for answers but cant pull together all the info i need. This is a bad drawing of what i want to achieve. Red is house, green is front lawn, little blue squares are gullies for downpipes, little yellow rectangle is step to front doo. Its not to scale...

Ive used those before fixing glazing wind posts into concrete tower blocks. They seemed pretty good. Are they better than sleeve type bolts?

Casting 6" concrete coping for wall

I am going to be doing this on a semi circle wall im about to build. Because of the shape i was going to cast it on the wall. Fix a batten either side at the top of the wall, fix 1.5" uprights to the batten, fill with concrete and trowel flat and smooth. Hopefully it will work, but im ok...
