    Bathroom extractor

Grateful for an extractor recommendation for a small GF WC and for an Ensuite bathroom. I have Manrose FF100Ts but these sound pretty noisy. I was hoping to get something that would be quieter. Thanks.

    Towel rad - adjust tails/valve

Hi, I have tails coming out of the wall that were set for a 500mm towel rad. However I have had a 600mm rad delivered (an they are on a 6wk lead time!). Is this a problem? Would we just put a 90-deg bend in each tail? What type of valve would then be fitted? Thanks.

Ikea kitchen drawers and cabinet adaptations queries

Hi. It is definitely possible. There are even companies that specialise in this. Have a look at this link for several options: https://www.remodelista.com/posts/ikea-upgrade-5-cabinet-fronts-for-the-ultimate-ikea-hack/

    Gledhill v Joule

Thanks, that is reassuring as I would rather stick with what they have fitted. I specified Joule as I had hear that they were decent, I am happy if what is fitted is equivalent.

    Gledhill v Joule

That was what was in the schedule of works for the full refurb. If quality/suitability is equivalent then I am fine with it.

    Gledhill v Joule

I have a bit more info. They couldn't fit a 300, hence the 250. And they said that they always fit Gledhills and that they are a quality cyclinder Are Gledhills on a par with a Joule?

    Gledhill v Joule

Any views on Gledhill v Joule for an indirect unvented cylinder? I was expecting to have a Joule fitted as part of a refurb but have seen that there is a Gledhill on site. Are these of an equivalent performance / quality? Do I have anything to worry about with Gledhill? Likewise, I was...

Presume these would be bedrooms. NB It may look a little weird having them glazed in frosted glass to meet PD.

    Plaster v Plastic Cornice

What are the pros/cons of polyurethane coving? Is this ok to use, or a cheap alternative to plaster? i.e. https://www.toolstation.com/classic-coving-wt11/p48131 Thanks, Rich

Fitting sliding doors – what’s involved?

Why? It would also be more expensive, and (IMO) won’t look better.

    M8 x1.5mm bolt needed... #$@&%*!

I can find a BSW rod but no Dome nut. How likely is it that a UNC rod will fit a BSW knob. Or that a UNC dome nut fitting a BSW rod? I read online that it is pretty likely, save some loss in strength. Which way round would be better: - BSW door knob > BSW rod > UNC dome nut - BSW door knob...

    M8 x1.5mm bolt needed... #$@&%*!

Thanks. The manufacturer has confirmed it is a BSW 516. So I now need to track down a 4" BSW 516 Countersunk bolt... [Of course I ordered an UNC dome nut yesterday.... which I can add to be unwanted list with the M6 bolt and the M8 bolt]

    M8 x1.5mm bolt needed... #$@&%*!

This is a pic of the bolt. The bolt goes through the front door from rear to secure a large door knob on the front. (Similar in look to Ian's, but with a different fixing). There is a decorative cap that covers the head.

    M8 x1.5mm bolt needed... #$@&%*!

Thanks again. On a new product, which is more likely UNC or BSW?

    M8 x1.5mm bolt needed... #$@&%*!

Thanks, that is really helpful. I reckon it is more likely to be 1.4. Is UNC the same as BSW? Any suggestions where do I get a 100mm/4 inch countersunk 5/16 bolt?

    M8 x1.5mm bolt needed... #$@&%*!

I can't seem to find a M8 1.5mm countersunk bolt needed to fit my front door knob. Story so far: The door knob came with a bolt, but at 70mm it is too short. So I ordered a 100mm bolt off ebay; which was the wrong diameter ! (I ordered M6 when I now think I need M8). So I ordered an M8...

    Eaves height? Existing building?

Why are the eaves so high? 1m above the bifolds? Whilst you have reduced the actual eaves, I suspect the perceived overbearing of this design will be worse than sloping down to eaves over the bifolds.

Locked escape window - key behind 'break glass'

What is the definition of 'non-opening' in planning law? How permanent a solution is required to meet planning requirements? Closed? Locked? Screwed closed. A pane/frame that doesn't open but is removable?
