    Sub-Floor Prep [PIC]

So I should buy this: http://www.toppstiles.co.uk/tprod8763/bal-bond-sbr-primer-1ltr.html And dilute 1:2 with water to prime before the SLC. I don't think the original council guy that did the SLC even used primer since it was so flaky. Come to think of it I should have just tiled over the...

    Sub-Floor Prep [PIC]

I knocked most of the grey stuff off... the pinky beige vinyl was done about 10 years ago so don't think it contains asbo. Searched google for those tiles you mentioned and it came up with Bob Marley 12" vinyl. I don't think they're the same but I think I'll buy! The timber is the door...

    Sub-Floor Prep [PIC]

Apparently grey stuff is not solid throughout the whole room as some has just chipped off! Now I'm in a confusing situation of whether to peel is all off or just fill in the gaps and level the black part. Of course if I peel it all off then I probably don't need to level the black part...

    Sub-Floor Prep [PIC]

Currently ripping out the old floor in the kitchen and found some grey stuff in the room the kitchen will be extended to: At the threshold between the two rooms: Black floor is mastic on concrete. I think the grey stuff is a very thin layer of levelling compound which was put on...

Planning Kitchen Wall Electrics - Is This Good? [PIC]

Back door. No it's from where I removed the old wall dividing the 2 rooms.

Planning Kitchen Wall Electrics - Is This Good? [PIC]

You think I would have gone through with it without consulting you guys first? That's what I've been told. There is already a gas pipe coming out of the wall (15mm one) right behind where the oven unit is to be fitted that's been capped. Disadvantages of gas is they are harder to...

Planning Kitchen Wall Electrics - Is This Good? [PIC]

I went in assuming they were both hard wired. Sales person said only oven is hard wired and hob is 3 or 2 pin plugged into a regular socket but said they don't come with plugs on the end for safety reasons. I've never used a solo hob before - always had a freestanding oven with built in hob.

Planning Kitchen Wall Electrics - Is This Good? [PIC]

It's the ring from my other thread that I extended! You suggested adding a leg to the new washing machine socket as opposed to a JB which I did. Now you see one leg in the top right, then another leg in the top left (going to the kettle socket). Connecting another leg between them completes the...

Planning Kitchen Wall Electrics - Is This Good? [PIC]

Thanks I didn't know the dual appliance connections existed. I did think about the RF socket but it would need an extra chase and to be honest some of the CCUs I've seen look not much different from a double socket. Plus the plan is to put a CCU symmetrical to the duel socket on the right of...

Planning Kitchen Wall Electrics - Is This Good? [PIC]

Just to clarify. I will be (hopefully) chasing the cavities either today or tomorrow: So... 2 legs from ring main (top right) to extractor fan single socket, then 2 legs down to the double socket. Cooker radial in 6mm T&E. 1x 2.5mm T&E cable from the CCU to 20A DP switch to control the...

Cost of Moving Gas Meter & Chasing Pipes?

It's Wickes Orlando White high gloss kitchen. Already got half the units, tiles, adhesive, downlights etc... think I'm hitting around £1k at the moment. Might push it beyond £2k with a fancy splash-back but those pipes ruin everything. The gas feed sticks out 12cm from the wall! The guys that...

Cost of Moving Gas Meter & Chasing Pipes?

Budget for the entire kitchen is £2000 - including units, tiles, plumbing, electrics. This gas meter is like a roadkill horse lying in the way of your shopping trip! Pay someone to move it, but not 50% of your groceries! You might as well take another route. If it can't be moved for a good...

Cost of Moving Gas Meter & Chasing Pipes?

My point was that if it was a water job £200 is about right why is gas a bigger expense? Is it because you have to pay certain permissions/schemes?

Cost of Moving Gas Meter & Chasing Pipes?

Not sure what you mean already inserted with plastic? What are the expenses exactly? Does the gasman have to pay the supplier or regulatory body like they do with part P/building control for electrical work? Would this job cost the same if it was actually water pipes as opposed to gas? Because...

Cost of Moving Gas Meter & Chasing Pipes?

Hi. It's not an outside wall but I do know the person at the end of my street had hers moved to the outside wall last year and it cost £350. It was placed into a lockable plastic box as well. Since ours is so much less work I would have thought it'd be about £200. It won't be "hidden" it's...

Cost of Moving Gas Meter & Chasing Pipes?

Hi. Gas meter is in the way of new kitchen install. Plan is to put kitchen wall units over the electric and gas meter to hide them. Electric meter seem OK but the gas meter is a problem. See those 2 pipes, one gas feed (I'm guessing from the company) and one to go out - they stick out about...

How Would You Chase This Cable Into The Wall?

Update: Replaced a leg without needing to use a MF junction box (but ran out of T&E to complete the circuit :cautious:) I swear I found the best way to fish cables! Tried fishing set... didn't work. Tried pushing cable down wall and hooking it at bottom... didn't work. Tried pushing single...

How Would You Chase This Cable Into The Wall?

Yeah I was looking at energy consumption rather than power rating. 6 KWh for the dryer not 6 KW. Still trying to find the power rating without pulling the washing machine out. EDIT: Max watt (2100) wash (1500) dry.

How Would You Chase This Cable Into The Wall?

http://www.screwfix.com/p/british-general-20a-1-gang-double-pole-switch-white/76090 It's confusing me because it's a 20a switch on a 32a circuit, but this is common no? And if there's a single 2.5mm cable from switch to socket that still means this section has a possibility of carrying 32a but...

How Would You Chase This Cable Into The Wall?

BAS I will have a look if I can do it without using the junction box a little later on. Compiling a list of things to buy right now. Regarding the washing machine socket... the two legs of the ring will go to the 20A DP switch... the socket will be about a meter below this switch. Because I've...
