    Broken Front Door step

Hi guys Whats the easiest way to tidy this up?: 20210618_170024.jpg - Google Drive It used to be tiled, but they've fallen off. I could make a mould and concrete it. The other option is to deck it but it might require fine cuts. What will be the easiest option? Kind regards CF

    Stain blocker for stone

Hi guys Please can you help me diagnose this problem?: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1Ab_8DpBVzlzVBz2Zcw4WdGZTy3wXkUC7 Not sure what sort of stone it is, but I painted it using masonry paint last summer and it was ruined within a few weeks. I need some sort of stain blocker before I...

Which Circular Saw? - Mac Allister vs Guild

Hey guys So I've done some quick searching on ebay and there are a dozen or so replacement blades for both 160/20 and 165/16 at the £10 mark or less. This gives me the confidence to proceed with either. Screwfix Mac Allister has soft start and a 55mm deep cut, 3mm more than Argos Guild. Are...

Which Circular Saw? - Mac Allister vs Guild

Thanks for the comments guys. So basically, the Argos one permits a more mainstream bore size (20mm) and the screwfix one has a more common disc size (165mm). Which one should I give preference to? I note that the screwfix one gives a deeper cut by a few mm too. I dont expect to replace the...

Which Circular Saw? - Mac Allister vs Guild

Hi guys I'm finally going to take the plunge on purchasing a circular saw. I need to cut wood maybe once a year and always find myself having to compromise by using a jigsaw, hand saw or electric saw. Both of the following cost £40. Can't justify paying any more given how infrequently I will...

Using earth for dry contact switch

Thanks guys I think I might have sussed out another way to make this work using momentary switches. You can set the sonoff at software level to recognise a momentary switch as an 'ON' signal. The following schematic will allow me to connect both switches with the pre-existing twin and earth...

Using earth for dry contact switch

Thanks for the comments. Other people have measured the voltage and posted the results online. They measured 3.3v at S1 and S2 terminal. Is screened cable the same as unshielded cable inside a pvc jacket? Cheers ES

Using earth for dry contact switch

Sorry, no to which question? Unfortunately the twin and earth is already plastered into the wall between both switches so there is no chance of running new cable. The earth wire is only protected by the pvc jacket. Now your testing me lol. Dry contact switch as in no substantial voltage...

Using earth for dry contact switch

Hi guys My brother in law has bought me a bunch of sonoff mini smart switch modules and invited me round to his house to show me how he has wired them up. Please note the following diagram from the manufacturer to wire a 2 way switch to the smart relay...

2 gang switch - standard AND RF

You're right. I'm not sure what the socket innards look like but the lights are standard led lights that connect to a led driver and then to the plug. My idea is to put a Sonoff RF in between the led driver and the plug. That way I can control the circuit using WiFi and also using a manual RF...

2 gang switch - standard AND RF

Thanks buddy but it seems like an expensive solution for something that doesn't have WiFi functionality. A sonoff RF costs a fiver and a RF transmitter fob costs a quid. Granted this requires soldering a reactive push button to the key fob botton.

    Damaged wiring

Get a room you two. I've got news.... I've just unplugged the borrowed neutral and restored the light fitting with its own neutral. Not sure why I even did this, but when I flicked the switch, it worked!!! I'm gobsmacked. There's only 2 things that I did different when installing it back...

    Damaged wiring

Agree completely. To be fair, the missus wants new carpet upstairs. I suppose this can be a good excuse to tear the old floor out and have a gander. Thanks for all your help

    Damaged wiring

Thanks guys. I'll take your advice and paint the wire white. Seeing as that frees me up for product choice, will this do?: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Twin-and-Earth-3-Core-and-Earth-Quality-Electrical-Cable-Wire-6243-6242Y/393052219872?hash=item5b83bce9e0:g:C7sAAOSwK8Nf02TY They do 1mm single...

2 gang switch - standard AND RF

Thanks buddy Can't do Wifi, not only do I not have a neutral, but I don't even have a live/switch live for this particular circuit going to the switch. The cupboard lights are powered by socket. My plan is to attach a Sonoff RF so that the circuit can be controlled by RF. Let me know if there is...

    Damaged wiring

Afraid there are no convenient access points that can get to the junction box from below or above as there are narrow joists that block access. Would this work for the borrowed neutral...

2 gang switch - standard AND RF

Thanks buddy. Thats genius. I won't be able to get a WiFi power controller behind the switch as there is no neutral and they all rely on this, however I might be able to put an rf fob in the back box and wire this to the switch. How do I turn a standard toggle switch into push to make? Kind...

    Making dumb extractor fans smart

Hi guys Whats the easiest way to make dumb extractor fans smart? I have one on/off fan in my basement that I want to be humidity controlled. I'm thinking I should attach a Sonoff TH to this. Another fan in my bathroom.... I want this to be triggered by humidity but I also want switch...

Hi guys. I'm after a 2 gang switch, one of the switches needs to be a standard/dumb/hard switch. The other gang needs to be an RF switch. What are my options please? Thanks in advance CF
