Fire Rated Ironmongery - Tubular Latch

BS EN 1906 is for lever handles and knobs (latched), BS EN 8424 is for pull handles (unlatched). Sorry, I don't have the specifics. Essentially, get quality stuff, don't remove more wood than necessary, plastic is a no-no. Hinge and latch intumescents have baffled me for a while as well but...

Fire Rated Ironmongery - Tubular Latch

A bit of further clarification on this from BCO... The door handle does not really impinge on the door fire resistance, however the handles should comply with BS EN 1906 and / or BS EN 8424: 2004

Fire Rated Ironmongery - Tubular Latch

Thanks guys. The blurb that came with the door mentions hinge number and rating, door stops etc but doesn't mention anything about the rating of the other hardware. I have some intumescent pad left over from doing the hinges so will use that for the latch set.

    Loft Conversion-Velux spacing-rafters

I have a single MK04 in the main part of my loft with dormer. Sounds like you will have loads of light but to maximise it I had the adjacent rafters spaced a bit further apart so I could create a chamfer into the room.

Fire Rated Ironmongery - Tubular Latch

Knob? No pun intended? :D Cheers for that. BCO has seemed pretty good so far. Will ask the question. There doesn't seem to be a great deal of choice on FD30 knobs so made me wonder if it's a requirement.

Fire Rated Ironmongery - Tubular Latch

Am fitting 2 fire doors, one for the loft entrance and one downstairs where the stair banister was closed in adjacent to the front door. They are FD30. Looking at handles and latches, do these need to be FD30? I've had a search on here/google but can't find anything definitive. Thanks.

    Kitchen mixer tap replacement

Thanks guys. Yep, replacing tap for one with flexi tails. I think they will reach ok. Have all the tools, penetrating fluid applied before attempting removal.

    Kitchen mixer tap replacement

Looking for connection advice to go from an old copper inlet mono tap to an M10 inlet type. Is it just a case of removing the tap and connecting the supplied flexi's to the 15mm copper supply pipes? Thanks.

Pipe Inserts for Shower Waste Pipe

Thanks. it's clipped every 400mm. I've changed the final plastic/copper connection where it runs outside from push fit/push fit to push fit/compression as this was the most concerning connection.

Pipe Inserts for Shower Waste Pipe

Thanks guys. I've used the collet clips as per the 2nd image and what's in the AKW instructions.

Pipe Inserts for Shower Waste Pipe

Am using 22mm barrier pipe to remove shower waste via an AKW pump. I haven't used pipe inserts on the speedfit connectors as per the AKW manual. It says NEVER fit JG pipe inserts but ALWAYS fit JG locking collars. I've got the locking collars on. Am guessing the reason for not using the inserts...

    Bathroom Door Material

Hi All, I'm looking for a bathroom door for a loft conversion. Wishlist - provide some degree of soundproofing - wont warp, swell, peel etc with warm moist bathroom air - need to able to trim it - to be painted - do not want moulded - can be treated if necessary (but still require it to be...

Moisture board, bonding agent and scrim tape.

Thanks all. I taped after the bonding agent. Some didn't adhere too well but all ok with a bit of mud on it. I used the Wickes bonding agent. Seems to work really well. Was a bit worried about picking up on the trowel with the grit but it's going well so far.

Moisture board, bonding agent and scrim tape.

Hi All. I'm preparing to skim some moisture board and am going to use a bonding agent. Do I tape the joints before or after the bonding agent? Thanks.

    Kitchen Cupboard Magic Corner Retrofit

Am looking to add one of those swing out kidney shaped corner shelf units to better utilise space in the corner kitchen cupboard. Does anyone know where I can get a mechanism so I can make the shelves myself? Or has anyone made one before and have any plans? Thanks.

    Fluidmaster Concealed Cistern Lid

Hi All. Does anyone know how important the tabs on the underside of a Fluidmaster concealed cistern are? Have attached a photo. Was received with both tabs beoken. If not necessary I won't send back. Thanks.

40mm Basin Waste - Threaded to Compression

Thanks guys. I can't get to the back so it will have to be straight down. Phill, do you have a screwfix number? That link doesn't work for me at the moment. I think I might be able to use a pedestal trap.

40mm Basin Waste - Threaded to Compression

Essentially will a 40mm compression fitting be suitable for a 40mm threaded waste. I'd like to (have to) use a bottle trap for the basin due to space constraints. The trap can't reside inside the wall hung vanity so I'll need to extend the waste to below. I can't easily see how to go to 40mm...

    Wall hung basin/vanity mounting

Nice one. Thanks guys. Presumably the outside ends of the bracket will need to be inside the vanity side to get it to pull flush? The system doesn't give me loads of confidence! Was expecting a full length rail.
