Replacing switches to metal. Earth issue

So I think it might be connected to the fan isolator switch? I honestly don't know exactly. I won't do anything until it's all investigated

I think the blue wire with the brown sleeve does go into the little connector...

Replacing switches to metal. Earth issue

Do to have any test kit? Unfortunately not! Are 2 earth wires in the sleeve or one? I think just one? Does the fan run on (continue running for a while after the light is switched off? Yeah it's on a timer. Runs for about 15 mins after it's off. What is the other wire in the pic? That's just...

Replacing switches to metal. Earth issue

Ah okay, so I could just add a new extra earth in the same little block and fly to the switch plate? Any reason why it's currently wired the way it is? Most switches I've seen tend to have the earth connected to the switch plate or backing box

Replacing switches to metal. Earth issue

There is no loose earth to do so. The one you see is connected to that little block that runs into another cable and back up into the wall. I'm assuming it's there to earth the extractor fan or something.

Replacing switches to metal. Earth issue

I'm looking to replace some switches to a metal plate switch. All was going fine with most of the light switches but I've run into an issue with our bathroom switches that is fan controlled. It seems the earth is in some continuous loop with the wiring of the fan but that means it leaves no...

    Inspection chamber cut down

I've got one of those new plastic inspection chambers for sewage in our garden. It was installed and left sitting quite high from the ground still. Any idea how I go about cutting this down and whether I need to concrete around it after?

Top oven and hob igniter not working

top convection oven that has an element for heating/grilling. Bottom is fan. Hob is gas. I'm not too crazy with my cleaning but it could potentially be grease build up on the front panel then that might have shorted something. I guess I'll get someone out to look ughhh. Something happened when...

Top oven and hob igniter not working

Seem to have an issue with our Smeg TR62P oven. The top convection oven has stopped working and the hob igniter for the gas doesn't spark/click any more. Could a broken element cause the igniter to stop working too and if I replaced the element, it'll fix both? The bottom fan oven works fine...

    Adding texture to masonry paint

Applied some masonry paint to a wall on my house but finding the paint is too smooth and not matching up to the other walls. Searched up about adding texture by mixing some silica sand in with the paint but I can't seem to find anywhere to buy it other than online for a tiny bag. Is there any...

Water pooling in the DPC of timber frame

We have some temporary gutters but I don't think it's doing a good enough job it seems. Nah not making things up as we go along, builders have been following the typical timber frame build process but there seems to be an issue with water tightness from the DPC section. Housewrap from bottom...

Water pooling in the DPC of timber frame

That's actually a photo from the inside of the extension. The house wrap house outside has been wrapped from bottom to top. Was the DPC meant to be folded behind the housewrap? There's also renderboard on the outside at the moment

Water pooling in the DPC of timber frame

Currently building a timber frame extension that's sitting on block work. We have DPC that the frame sits on between the block and the frame but started seeing pooling of water coming through. We've got housewrap on and render boards right now but rain water is still getting through... Any...

reporting to HSE for small incidents?
