Combi or conventional system if I want the ultimate shower experience??

My main reason for liking open vented is I can install most of the system myself, maintain it myself and avoid the annual servicing cost of a gs3 qualified plumber.

Combi or conventional system if I want the ultimate shower experience??

Ok, I’ve been reading everything about thermal stores (wife thinks I’m mental) and they sound like a good solution, provided pressure and flow are good at the new house, the current thinking is: Gledhill eco sol thermal store...

Combi or conventional system if I want the ultimate shower experience??

Been doing lots of reading! What does everyone think of thermal stores? I see you can get vented ones which I could then add solar and/or a wood burner with back boiler to down the line, I will be buying a log burner for one or two of the rooms anyway so could get a back boiler one instead. Do...

Combi or conventional system if I want the ultimate shower experience??

Thanks for your reply! I don't have any experience with system design, layout etc but do have a bit of plumbing installation experience, so the physical part of actually installing the system I think I would be fine with, the planning side I would need to do plenty of research on. I would...

Combi or conventional system if I want the ultimate shower experience??

Thanks for this, I understand I would need a professional for the installation of the boiler itself and anything gas related or as pat of an unvented system, this is why I am leaning towards a vented system as I can then install everything beyond the boiler. The house has an existing vented...

Combi or conventional system if I want the ultimate shower experience??

Thanks for your great reply! I will certainly have a look at the pressure once we are in the house before making any decisions. One other factor that may come into play is cost - not that I am concerned about cost as such, but in the sense that I am happy (and keen) to do as much work as...

Combi or conventional system if I want the ultimate shower experience??

hi all, I am looking at buying a place that needs renovating. I will be getting a new boiler installed and will be refitting two new bathrooms and a new cloakroom. Seeing as the whole system will be new, I wanted to get advice on what the ultimate setup would be? Whenever we go to posh hotels...

what Should I replace floating floor with for tiling...without removing kitchen?!

hi all, I ripped up the old tiled floor in our kitchen as the tiles had all started to come loose. Turns out there was a small leak and the chipboard flooring had turned to mush! I replaced the chipboard with new boards with the kitchen units in situ (with some skilful Jenga of kitchen unit...

Prepping floor for new tiles - kitchen/conservatory

Hi, the blue stuff is definitely insulation, if I do not cut the heating wires why would the UFH not be salvageable? I have managed to not damage them so far in the small section I have done. What would you recommend to do if the screed is not thick enough as it seems it isnt? Many thanks for...

Prepping floor for new tiles - kitchen/conservatory

Hi all, I have a tiled floor in the kitchen/conservatory and quite a few are starting to come loose. They weren't very level to begin with so I thin the previous owner did a bit of a bodge job! I have got an SDS tile remover bit and have removed a small section to see how it would go, it is...

Stud Walls - sit on top of floating floor or onto concrete?

Hi all, I am turning the back half of my detached garage into an office to free up our spare bedroom (for more babies!). I am pretty comfortable with how I am going to construct it all and am about to start work out there. I plan to use a liquid DPM on the floor, then layer celotex and...

need advice on 10mm Rad system, childs room too hot

Hi all, I have an issue at one of my family members houses, the thermostat is located in the smallest bedroom ( approx 2m sq) in the house which belongs to their 6 year old. This room also has a large radiator (approx 1200mm width) with 10mm pipework and a twin entry valve without TRV. They...

Terminate SWA armour outside and take just internal wires into house/CU?

Thanks for all the posts everyone, sorry I dissappeared for a day! the external meter cabinet is the other side of the wall, so if I could take a feed from there that would be a perfect solution. What is the procedure for doing this? from what I've just read I would need the supplier to pull...

Terminate SWA armour outside and take just internal wires into house/CU?

Thanks again! As long as there are no safety concerns I will go ahead with the current CU for now and perhaps look at replacing it down the line. I will replace the damaged MCB with a new one when I connect the supply.

Terminate SWA armour outside and take just internal wires into house/CU?

Thanks flameport, I will replace that MCB, that is the one I plan to use as supply for the SWA as it was originally for a power shower that has now been removed. So are you saying I would need a new CU to achieve what I want to? Or could I get by with what I have? Thanks

Terminate SWA armour outside and take just internal wires into house/CU?

planning on earthing the armour at both ends as you say, CU is plastic I believe, will take a closer look tomorrow. What is the best way to join the SWA to T&E inside a sunken box like Johnw2 mentioned? Don't see the need for a cooker switch or rotary isolator as the circuit can already be...
