    Tiling on concrete slab subfloor

hi all, Just after a bit of advice. Getting a tiler to tile my floor, but he will basically do what I tell him rather than "best practice". Floor is really quite level - certainly seems to be within 12mm. Couple of cracks but only tiny. What I was going to do was: - Clean the...

Asbestos use in private builds in the 1970s....

Cheers woody.. The property had ducted air heating, so I assume that there may have been some asbestos sheet behind where that boiler stood....and where the pipes went(which unfortunately I now know not, as the previous owners removed that system). Other than that, not planning to touch...

Asbestos use in private builds in the 1970s....

Cheers for the reply. My issue is that I'm planning to knock out two walls - dont obviously want to do this if it might be full of asbestos, so dont have the option of painting it in :) I've got to say - it's really really difficult to find out any information on this!

Asbestos use in private builds in the 1970s....

Hi all, Just bought a 1970s private build (George Wimpey homes I believe). The facts of the property are as follows: - Not sure of exact year of construction, the title is a bit confusing, but I believe it to be either 1972 or 1977. - Property is of standard construction with brick and...

Hole in kitchen floor due to ducted air gas boiler...

Hi all, In my house, a gas boiler supplying ducted air was removed (and never made good). The boiler was sat subfloor level. There is a 2 foot by 1 foot (approx) hole, about 2-3 inches deep. At the bottom, the hole is not concrete, or flat - it looks like a metal sheet, with some ridges...

Potterton Combi 24/28/33 not firing for central heating

    1) I think he pressurised it to about 1.8 ish...I was out of the room. 2) Dont think so - dont know for definite though. 3) No - its gradual, the pressure drops or rises suddenly but very slightly when the dhw or htg is first turned on.

Potterton Combi 24/28/33 not firing for central heating

Hi mate - thanks for your post. Yes it was exactly as you said. Gas fella came back and said that it was due to temperamental pressure valve - he pressurised it up to 2 and it worked straight away! The rads did get hot when doing it that way - thats what confused me as well, couldnt quite...

Potterton Combi 24/28/33 not firing for central heating

To be fair to him, he was there for an hour servicing it afterwards, and it kept working - was only when I got home that it didnt!

Potterton Combi 24/28/33 not firing for central heating

Follow up. Bloke came today, and apparently was nothing but an air lock / air bubble in the boiler.... He looked at it for 5 minutes and fixed it. However, what a surprise - got home tonight, and erroring with E119 - which is to do with the water pressure valve! Apparently means that...

Potterton Combi 24/28/33 not firing for central heating

Well no thats the funny thing. I only need to put the tap on until the boiler fires. then, when I turn it off, the boiler stays on until temperature reached for the heating! Still a diverter issue you think? PS - its a 28 :) PPS - I havent got the knowledge, will need to get...

Job - Plumber required in Newcastle Upon Tyne

Hi all, Jumping on the "offering jobs" bandwagon! I posted a couple of weeks back about moving my rising main, and the only person who has looked at it so far said "no problem, will just concrete this all in afterwards..." At which point I decided to look elsewhere :D So anyway -...
