Socket and cooker switch distance from hob

Thanks for the replies. So putting the sockets less than 300mm doesn't actually contrvene any regs as I thought....They need to be closer to the hob (about 200mm) and the cooker fcu definetaly less than 300mm. Building regs has the following for changes to existing kitchen

Socket and cooker switch distance from hob

Hi Is the distance from a gas hob for a socket 300mm set by regulations or is it just a recomendation? Is this distance also for the cooker control switch? As kitchen sizes can vary I think it is a recommended distance and general practice but just want to double check. Cheers Neil

Hi all Just after some opinions on this.... Ripping out our existing kitchen and stripping the wallpaper back to the original plaster (about 10 layers of paper and paint lol!!) - there are going to be some places needing filled (moved sockets etc) and also larger areas like below (badly...

As Subject - anyone recommend good places online to buy skirting that is 180mm in height - it will be painted white so MDF etc would be fine I guess. There must be better places than the local sheds - delivery would be handy as I don't have access to a van (although could hire one if delivery...

    Electrics in Garage

Doesn't have to have it's own CU but makes sense to - doesn't have to be metal sockets but again good for mechanical protection - IP rating only if going to be exposed to moisture etc

    Power to shed

Yes a catenary wire is an overhead line the cable attaches to - works well depending on cable size. The problem is that the fence between the posts isn't classed as a permanent fixture so isn't really suitable for fixing to.
