Another update! Took my car to the garage this morning. Picked it up this evening and they've done a top job. It looks so much better than it did! I'll admit you can still see some of the scratches, if you look across at them in the light, and the bloke at the garage was honest about this...

It was the fact that my neighbour specifically warned me about using a Brillo pad but then recommended the sponge scourer! That, combined with his car looking fine, convinced me there wouldn't be a problem!

My toilet handle recently broke. The square metal rod from the handle going into the cistern sheared off, presumably due to wear and tear. So, I purchased a new one, fitted it, and now I'm a bit confused... I think I've done everything correctly. I had to saw off a bit of the new square metal...
