Anaglypta - Cover it up without removing it?

Student rental accomodation!! Why on earth would you bother making improvements to it, when the landlord is probably fleecing you anyway? Do what most students do - go to your Student's Union poster sale during fresher's week, and buy a ton of posters to cover up any horrid bits... I lived in a...

    Spray paints?

I tried spray paint on my radiator and it was rubbish. Ended up having to sand the whole lot down and start again. Waste of time. Rubbish finish, rubbish cover and rubbish colour - definitely not the bright white it was supposed to be!

    Supplier of swimming pool fencing?

Maybe try a supllier in France? My parents live there, and they had to install a fence round their pool last year and also a pool alarm - as new legislation on pool safety came into force there in 2007.

    Wallpaper stripping NIGHTMARE!!!!

I reackon those cheap £30 type steamers are no way near as good as the industrial sized ones you can rent... We just stripped 3 layers of wallpaper from our lounge and hallways (one of which was woodschip, one was vinyl that has been painted over!!) and the rented steamer was much better than...

    Radiator paint - help!

Decided to try spray radiator paint yesterday as I have 3 huge radiators to paint. Anyway, it's not the right colour white and the cover isn't as good as I thought it would be, so I've now decided to just paint them by hand with the normal water-based gloss I've used on other radiators in the...

Masona, anyone - mould / Forever White.

I never get mould anywhere on either grout or sealant in my bath/shower.... Is the room ventilated? We always open the window when we use the shower, and leave it open for a while afterwards to air the room - even in winter. I keep tiles and grout clean with Cilit Bang, as we don't get mould but...

    Painting onto heating pipes

I didn't think emulsion was heat resistant? Why don't you just buy gloss in the same colour as your wall colour? We have all our heating pipes visible in our appartment, and we've simply painted the pipes in the gloss to match the walls and it looks great. You hardly notice the pipes....

    Tiny hairline cracks in plaster

We just spent a week stripping woodchip and vinyl wallpaper! It's never going back up anywhere in the house!! Thanks to Richard C's comments, I got the plasterer to knock out some of the plaster, tape the serious cracks and re-skim. Looking good so far, despite the kids upstairs trampling...

    Tiny hairline cracks in plaster

OK. Thanks for the comments. I guess I just paint it normally, and then have a "discussion" with the upstairs neighbours about their kids' indoor exercise!

    Tiny hairline cracks in plaster

They definitely got all the flaking paint off - I saw the ceiling before they did the skim! Kids upstairs are a pain in the rear, and the floor upstairs is a hardwood floor....Surely even if he took the plaster right down, if there's movement in the ceiling from the irritating kids upstairs...

    Tiny hairline cracks in plaster

Apparently there were cracks underneath the old paint (which they took off as it was flaking all over the place). It seems to be because of movement in the floor of the upstairs appartment, and their noisy energetic kids who run all over the place.... The plaster's definitely solid, and in any...

    No cracks paint?

I've just had a lot of re-rendering and skimming work done in the hallway and lounge of my appartment. The plasterers have done a good job, but the main guy told me today that there are some tiny hairline cracks which keep appearing in the plaster. He reackons it's down to the age of the place...

    plastering advice needed

That sounds a bit crazy. We have a 1930's appartment and a similar situation - woodchip on walls, house has been rewired by previous owners, and the walls are in a bit of a state under the 4 layers of wallpaper.... We've simply stripped the wallpaper off, and then had a couple of plasterers in...

    Spray paint for radiators?

I have to repaint 3 victorian style radiators that the previous owner of my flat painted a horrible shade of brown... When we did the bedroom one, we used normal gloss paint and a brush, and it was pretty hard work. I'm jsut wondering if radiator spray gloss paint would be OK to use? I've never...

Would this take much to get looking nice...

You can't make a silk purse out of a pig's ear - as in, you can't make that place look good without doing a bit of work to it. I'm guessing you can't do that cos it's not your propertly.

    Cleaning white grout?

I used a bit of bleach diluted in water and an old toothbrush. It worked really well - much better than Cif or Cillit Bang...

    pics of beige tiled bathroom

The tap is a Grohe - Eurostyle plus. We got it from a big bathroom company here in Brussels, but I'm guessing as it's made by Grohe you should be able to get something very similar in the UK. I much prefer a mixer tap like that, as it measn you can get the water temperature just right and leave...

    pics of beige tiled bathroom

That pretty much describes what we just did.... White suite, radiator and cupboard unit, beigy coloured 20cm by 30cm horizontal wall tiles, with a mosaic border and side panel on the bath, with limestone coloured floor tiles. We tiled up to 2m60 - our ceilings are stupidly high, so we didn't go...

I've changed my mind, but need advise

I'd don't think this will help, but here it's called a "regard de visite" or a "trappe de visite" - basically translates as an access hole... They sell them here and in France (my parents have the same on their bath in France). Leroy Merlin (big French DIY shop) sell them...
