Decided to try spray radiator paint yesterday as I have 3 huge radiators to paint. Anyway, it's not the right colour white and the cover isn't as good as I thought it would be, so I've now decided to just paint them by hand with the normal water-based gloss I've used on other radiators in the house. However,on the back of the spray can it says that even when dry, the radiator paint should not be painted over with acrylic gloss! Help! What can I do now? The spray paint coat isn't at all thick, so I was wondering if I can sand it a bit, use my metal primer, and then the water-based gloss on top? I can't figure out what type of paint this radiator stuff is - I think it might be enamel.... Will the sanding, primer, normal gloss work over that or am I going to end up with a big mess? Help.
