    yes all you need is a pad handle on the outside you can get these from any window company take the original one with you to make sure all the holes line up but once fitted it will be the same as a yale lock SO don't forget your key

    screw fix do a good range if you look for there special offers ive bought loads of stuff from them and never been disapointed ie 500 screws for 79p b&q price was £1.70 for 50 look on there web site and they deliver GOOD HUNTING

    i work for a major tarmac firm and there health and safety mad :x :x [not always a bad thing] but wearing a hard hat on a hot day and shoveling 160degree tarmac makes you sweat the moment you take your hat off then on you preaching the rules its alright for them they sit in an office all day...

    i have just got some new neighbours and there a bit loud at night in the bedroom [if you know what i mean] :wink: :wink: :wink: so i m thinking of putting a stud wall on to the single block wall putting polystyrene in it then plasterboarding will this work?? or is there any other options...

    problem with silicon

    its the oil coming out of the dpc every time i fit a window i always put a cement fillet around it it looks neater than silicone and gives a better weather seal just unibond over the dpc than apply the fillet 2 in 1 mix

    personally i would try and split the difference and use slabs as a base as they are a better load bearer put them on a bed of compacted sand or stone

    building a book shelf 2.6m high so i need to join 2 pieces of mdf together will it be strong enough if i glue & dowel them? or do i need to get some kind of bracket made (didn,t mention it,s only 20" wide & 14" deep ) hope this makes sense any ideas

    going to render an external wall without a scratch coat what is the minimum thickness and what ratio of sand and cement should i use plus what ratio should i use for a floor screed ?

    cavity insulation

    just need a bit of advice just built a small porch with a block wall the cavity is just 45mm as i was limited for space would it be a problem if i filled the cavity with polystyrene balls (like the ones in a bean bag) or will this cause damp????
