Building single skin brick shed off retaining wall?

Afternoon folks, I was contemplating parting with good money for a timber shed in order to store tools and such. The previous home owner had lovingly dug out of the garden land the space for a 6ft by 4ft shed to perfectly fit but never got around to putting a shed in it. My question is (as I...

To remove or not remove.. that is the question?

Cheers Vinn. Think you may be right. The plaster above that unistrut is very friable and crumbles away.. guessing it's the covering of a steel/concrete lintel. I'll hack it off tomorrow and have a good look at it..

To remove or not remove.. that is the question?

I'm not sure what the iron strip is there for. I think it's a product called unistrut and a metal framing system which seems most odd! In our rear room we did indeed have an arch as above but didn't want to hack away at all the plaster work unnecessarily. Looks like it may need to be done...

To remove or not remove.. that is the question?

So, have just removed the old gas Fire and tiles and revealed an opening too small for the new cast iron (decorative) fire surround. Looks to be about the infill of bricks too narrow (8 inches) and now considering whether I can take these out with an SDS? The Problem is the small concrete...

    Render or textured paint?

Thanks Clive - that's a great help. Had never seen or heard of this stuff before. Looks like I need a hand operated gun and a bag of mix and away I go! Will come back with some finished pics so everyone can have a good old laugh at my patch job, ha!

    Render or textured paint?

Hi all, Now the good weather is coming we are looking at painting the exterior of the property. On the newer extension there is a failing in the set coat of render / textured paint but I need to identify which it is before I try to fix. Can you help me identify this? Looking at other threads...

    Original chimney Breast lintel curved??

Cheers Woody! So am I safe to assume that the brickwork below the level of the archway can indeed be removed without affecting the structure? The doesn't appear to be any movement within the arches pointing etc.

    Original chimney Breast lintel curved??

So, we removed the old gas fire (including concrete surround) and started chipping away at the plaster to try and find the original builders opening but now slightly confused. Is the curved brickwork the builders openings original lintel and everything below it filled in for fitting of the gas...

    Conifer revival?

Don't worry - love the birds in our garden too much to disturb them so will make sure any cutting will definitely checked out fully or at the right time :-)

    Conifer revival?

I thought this may be the case. A shame really. This is the picture from the other side. I'd still like them to be used as a screen for the top section of the garden so may cut the tops off and weave something between them save digging them out. Use the trunks and the uprights.

    Conifer revival?

Hi guys and girls.. Been cutting back in the garden and a laurel tree has been blocking the light to the conifers.. do you think they will regrow? Or is it going to be a case of them coming down?

    Commerative Bricks

I like the hypotheses however most of these are to commemorate a visit generally, really like the idea of remembering fallen tradesman as part of a build. The ones we've found seems an odd thing to make to celebrate such a thing such as the visit of a Pope or the Prince and Princess of Wales...

    Commerative Bricks

Whilst clearing the garden last week we came across some commemorative bricks at the top of the garden (as per pic) I just wondered why these came about their purpose? I have found a couple online that have sold (not for much) Are they the brickies equivalent of a commemorative tea cup? :D

Interesting building line.. but what is it?

Thanks endecotp - shame I can't save it some how. There is a lot of movement in it.

Interesting building line.. but what is it?

While clearing our project house garden we came across this old building line at the rear of the garden. I can only assume a small building was here due to the window aperture still visible. The strange thing is the shape of the building, it is clearly curved meaning a likely rounded roof...

Signal but cannot find the aerial?!

Cheers Sam. I bought a suitable aerial so now need to look at running cables through from it to the rooms. Thanks again.

Signal but cannot find the aerial?!

Correct - no subscription. Definitely freview channels so I'm assuming as you say that it's being used as a poor aerial. Thanks for the help
