Best way to trim a bit off the bottom of interior door?

Our doors are the original 1930s wooden doors (can upload photo if required) but googling this you get a basic idea of: Anyway, i now know why the previous owner had a short pile carpet in the box room. After having a real nice carpet fitted...the door wont close. Well, it will, but...

Boiler pressure increasing out of nowhere. Why?

We bought the house late 2013 & we should be moved in in the next couple of weeks (don't ask! :)) Throughout that time we'd set the boiler at 1.5bar & it'd drop & then settle at 1.25bar. Turn all the rads up & it'd rise in pressure, put them back to 'normal' & it'd settle at 1.25. Since...

Bending 10mm copper pipe that leads to the radiator?

Yeah 'obviously' because I was never going to paste where I put the blue mark & I was always going to paste around the outside of that

Bending 10mm copper pipe that leads to the radiator?

I had to google what an olive was & if it's all right then the olive looks like some sort of brass ring. Whatever it's material & shape the diagrams i saw said it's located in the pipe that comes from the ground & in the connection that comes from the radiator. So should i be pasting the bit...

Bending 10mm copper pipe that leads to the radiator?

I forgot I ask: Can you recommend a decent paste-like alternative to PTFE tape? I tried wrapping tape around the thread of the connector to the left of the photo but with it being so close to the skirting even when I pull it away it's awkward wrapping the roll around the rear & so I...

I never thought of that. I'll take a look. There may be hope yet haha. Will let you know how I get on.

Bending 10mm copper pipe that leads to the radiator?

As promised: I took to it again tonight. I pushed the pipe down into the ground & started pulling on it a little about 3 inch below the connector trying to pull it towards the radiator connection point. I tried to push it on to the rad but it's kind of angled. I can get it to sort...

Bending 10mm copper pipe that leads to the radiator?

I got the connection in question off no problem but the TRV side was tight & the nut was right up against the skirting tightly. I had a go but after my first incident when I had water all over the living room floor (carpet was up & room gutted) I didn't want to risk it again so got the plumber...

Bending 10mm copper pipe that leads to the radiator?

I've just noticed as I opened my email notification - I should clarify that the pipe is 10mm & not 10m lol!! I'll get a photo tonight. Worst comes to the worst I think we'll get the handyman who we had out for some other jobs last year. I don't think a plumber is going to be getting out of...

Bending 10mm copper pipe that leads to the radiator?

Had the rad off for decorating (carpet, wallpapering & skirting being painted). We were supposed to have a plumber put it back on before the carpet was down but he let us down numerous times & in the end didn't show. (The side that's needing bending is the side I got off perfectly fine but he...

Drilling through tiles to hang bathroom cabinet

Thanks. I didn't think we had any tile bits so figured he must've used one of our masonry bits. The plugs & screws were supplied with the cabinet. How do you know what size bit to use to drill? I was told some years ago but having only done this (drilling into a wall) once before I've forgotten.

Drilling through tiles to hang bathroom cabinet

Was in B&Q some weeks ago & saw specific tile drill bits. Well we got rid of the bathroom cabinet that was in place as it was a bit diddy & we got a bigger one. Obviously we're going to have to drill through to hang this. Do you need to use tile specific drill bits or would other drill...

    Battery powered security lights..??

Thanks. For some reason i thought you got lights with PIRs & that was it, you couldn't make a standard light up with a PIR. What would the wiring there entail? Would they have to start knocking off all the dashing to get to the wiring?

    Inhibitor and/or other products?

By kettling i'll assume you mean the 'old school' kettle noise - whistling? As for the iffy rad, no it's on the upper floor. The boiler is in the 2nd bedroom which connects on to the bathroom & master bedroom. The iffy rad connects on to the master bedroom & as it's not a big house there's...

    Inhibitor and/or other products?

Just thinking, for the sake of it would you just bung some x200 in as well as the x100 while it's getting done? You mentioning the x400 had me thinking though - there's 1 rad in particular that keeps getting cold at one end but not the other. Can't remember if it's top or bottom. Not quite...

    Battery powered security lights..??

Ahh right i get you. Sounds like a good idea to me, but i think i'll look more into the solar powered model. See if it's reliable & hopefully not over-bright.

    Inhibitor and/or other products?

8 rads? I thought it was 10? Let's see... Upstairs is 2x 1600x600 singles, 1 small double, 1 towel rad. Downstairs is 1 small double, another 1600-x-600 single, a medium double, another medium double & a small double. So that's 9. For when i've not given measurements it's because i...

    Inhibitor and/or other products?

I bought some Sentinel x100 inhibitor for the system but was wondering if any other products should be used in this situation. I'll give the run down in time order... Nov 2013 - get the house. No idea what if anything was used in the system up until this point. Jan/Feb 2014 - bend a pipe...

    Battery powered security lights..??

Well you wanted an update on the £10 battery one from B&Q & here it is.... It's going back so i can get refunded. Today if they're open. It wouldn't turn on at all with batteries on full charge.
