    Crown extreme grip

Ok fellas, sorry if i seem a bit slow here but... i called Crown and they said that the one coat satin would need an undercoat. Fair enough - i'd say there's a good chance that an undercoat gives a smoother finish, but where that's not important - is an undercoat required or not...

    Wire wool for sanding?

"Another use of steel wool is in rodent control. Small holes are plugged with steel wool which if gnawed on by rodents causes sharp pain in the mouth, and if ingested, severe internal damage, leading to death." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steel_wool I hadn't even noticed that b4. How...

    Crown extreme grip

Well, now that the extreme grip has dried properly (it says one hour but takes a lot longer on sapele doors - which is understandable) the adhesion is pretty good - u can't scrape a line of it off with ur thumbnail after all. Thanks for ur help fellas - 'liquid filler' Joe-90? - well put :)...

    Crown extreme grip

Has anyone used this stuff http://www.designbuild-network.com/contractors/finishing/crown-trade/press10.html I got a a tub of it (water based), i've sanded down some sapele doors (with 80 grit) and put a coat of it own - not sure about the adhesion - i get the impression that u could scrap...

    Wire wool for sanding?

Hi Stem, Glad u agree. I'm pretty certain i remember reading that some paint manufacturers don't recommend it because there is a risk of some sort of reaction with the paint. In fact, i'm pretty sure i read it on the back of some paint cans. 'Steel wool should not be used on oak, as...

keeping rollers overnight without cleaning them

Yeah, like they said, plastic bags - if it's emulsion - the tighter u wrap it up the longer it will last - maybe 5-8 days before they start to harden. Oil based will probably only last a day before they start to go off, maybe even less. For oil based, just drop the roller in a bucket of water...

    Wire wool for sanding?

Hi, Does anyone have an opinion on using wire/steel wool for sanding? Seems to me it be very useful for getting at the contours of skirting boards, but i think some paint manufacturers say not to use the stuff. Cheers

Central heating and hot water not seperated?

Hi folks, A job i'm working at at the mo doesn't seem to have a way of seperating the power to the CH from the HW. In other words, when you want the central heating on, you get hot water whether u want or not - this doesn't seem right. Is this likely at all? or am i just misunderstanding...

    The best roofing sealant

Ah fellas! why didn't no-one say nothin? Just dawned on me that i botched it. By filling between the bottom of the L bracket and the top of the wall with sealant, now if any water gets past the sealant on top (between the slates and bracket), it'll not be able to run down the outer face of...

    Zanussi FL1085 filter leaking badly

I have to say Cakeman - i thought the self assurance of ur diagnosis was odd - especially given my description of the problem. Whadaya know - it just wasn't tightened properly. Although to be fair it really does have to be tightened - threads might be a bit dodgy. Certainly not a job the average...
