    tanking?

thanks, that's interesting as there are a lot of paint on cementious products claiming to be good for basement tanking. Does anyone have any experiences with these? I'm thinking of getting the drainage sorted, i just hope this will solve the problem once and for all.

    tanking?

Thanks for the reply. maybe i wasn't clear enough, this wasn't paint, but a cementious tanking system: http://www.wykamol.com/services/damp-proofing/tanking-products/aquastop-tanking-system.html I know that the ideal is to dig down outside but was hoping to avoid this if possible. Thanks...

    tanking?

Hi, i wonder if anyone can suggest a good paint on tanking system i can use in an area that is 1ft below the external ground level and suffering damp. I'm pretty sure the damp is penetrating through and despite applying a coat of Wykamol Aquastop the area is still wet to touch. Any help very...

    tanking still damp

It's been 2 weeks since applying Wykamol Aquastop Tanking to the lower half of my walls in a downstairs room. I've plastered with renovating plaster and skimmed but there appears to still be a lot of damp. The tanking that is exposed between floor and plaster is actually damp to touch. I've...

    condensation puddles!

I've just noticed some water along the floor wall junction in a room i'm about to re-decorate. Originally the walls had some dampness which i assumed was penetrating as the bottom 30cm is below the outside ground level. However, i've recently cement filleted along the edge of the floor and this...

    Damp at edge of floor?

ideally this is what would be done: according to the wykamol product guide. My problem is that putting a new floor in isn't an option so i'm stuck without a 'fillet' and trying to put something in. so a couple of questions... 1. My plan is to use 'fillet seal' around the edges before...

    Damp at edge of floor?

Thanks for the reply. It looks like it's coming up although it's possible some is across from the wall as the adjoining wall is below ground level. I've installed an electro osmosis system but this wont be switched on for some time until i finished a couple more rooms. My plan is to keep the...

    Damp at edge of floor?

My front room (Victorian house) has a concrete floor with what looks like plastic dpm underneath. I've got some problems with penetrating damp in the walls so am going to use sulphate resisting backing render with aquastop tanking ontop. My question is about the floor edge. I have some...

    Breathable Plaster? IZONIL??

Hi, i have a part of a room that is below the external ground level (victorian building) and has some problems with penetrating damp. In the long term i'm going to install a French drain outside but would like to plaster with something that can handle the damp. My plasterer suggested bitumen...

    Ceiling Rose/Junction Box

I'm planning on installing some lighting into a room i'm renovating. My problem is that where i want the light to go there is a beam (not structural). If i mount the light fitting on the beam it'll look messy so i'm thinking of running the cable from a pendant light through the beam and into a...

    Expanding Foam?

thanks for that, yeah i've got a breathable membrane + at least 25mm air gap. The walls are going to be plastered so in most places this may be sufficient but i just wanted to help seal it up for greater heat efficiency. I'm not sure what you meant by low and high vetilation. The attic is...

    Expanding Foam?

I've just finished installing rigid insulation boards between the rafters in my attic. 50mm between rafters plus another 50mm with plasterboad underneath rafters. The problem is that the edge of the attic is bare stone so there are varying sizes of gaps along the edges. I was thinking of filling...

    Fitting new toilet

He had the toilet so just a bad job i think! I'm not sure the stonework will be so easy given that it's a traditional sandstone wall...i'd welcome any ideas though.
