I'm planning on installing some lighting into a room i'm renovating. My problem is that where i want the light to go there is a beam (not structural). If i mount the light fitting on the beam it'll look messy so i'm thinking of running the cable from a pendant light through the beam and into a junction in the floor void above...just curious if this is the right thing to do? or if anyone has any other suggestions. Thanks

It would be better to do it without using a junction box by running the cable directly to the supply.

If you must use a jb then it must be 'maintenance free' without screw terminals such as an Ashley J803.
Or - accessible for inspection.
