    thats fine, i re-read your post i think you've measured 3mm instead of 2.5mm that is fine. only take your new cable off existing socket if there are two cables there already. thats me assumming its a ring main!

    buy some 2.5mm Twin and earth and do it right. dont use two different sizes of cable, yes it will hold the load, but u might have loose connections. dont know where your getting 5mm cable???

    electric centre sell a coffin box, its a 60A joint box! turn power off, cut cable and fit coffin box, buy some 10mm T+E and re route your cable. Simples

    panel heaters are pretty poor, i would try get in touch with electric supplier and try get a total control tariff, allowing you to put water filled heaters up, they look like radiators and are very cheap to run (also lets u dry clothes in front of it unlike panel heating)

    u can cut either cable either lighting or sockets, if u cut the sockets use a 30A joint box (assuming its wired in 2.5 twin,) use a 20a joint box if your cutting 1.5twin for lighting. id personally cutt into lights. personal preferance

    Ive recently bought a house that had a back boiler, ive ripped it out and was planning on putting a tv, sky box and xbox built into the hole left. is there any precautions i should take with the chimney? dampness? False Pot? or Ventillation? any info would be great
