    Cracks around UPVC doorframe

We had some UPVC doors fitted around 10 years ago. Over probably the past year or so I've noticed a crack appearing pretty much around the whole door frame (picture attached). What do people think has happened here - would there have been some sort of sealant applied first and then plastered...

    UPVC door catching at bottom

Hi there I've noticed recently our UPVC door catches slightly at the bottom when closing, it also creaks a bit too. I've attached a pic of the door and a couple of pics of the hinges, there are 4 of these but they don't look very adjustable. I've read elsewhere that the packing might need...

Safety Electrical Connection tower badge come off

Hi - my wife found the attached badge on the floor yesterday, I think our new kittens had got down behind the fridge so suspect they may know something about it! To prevent frazzled kitten we've blocked off their route now but a dumb question - the badge states "do not remove" - I assume it...

    Toilet overflow pipe connector leaking

PTFE tape sounds good, although wouldn't that apply more if the leak was from the top of the nut? I think it's coming from the bottom where the grey pipe goes in. Maybe a combination of PTFE tape plus silicon sealant on the grey pipe and around the join where it goes into the nut?

    Toilet overflow pipe connector leaking

Cheers John yes I have stopped the overflowing so not a mega prob but wanted to try and sort it out in case it happened again. Sorry to show my ignorance but a plastic olive - is that like a washer? And where would I put the silicon, just run it around the inside of the nut? Thanks again.

    Toilet overflow pipe connector leaking

Hi there I noticed our toilet overflow connector pipe at the bottom of the cistern (see attached pic) was dripping when the overflow was in action. I think this has pretty much always been the case since the chap fitted it some years ago - obviously only happens when its overflowing into the...

    Repointing house walls

OK thanks. From what I have read would 1 part cement to 4 parts Building Sand be about right? Plus possibly Lime.

    Repointing house walls

Thanks guys for pointing out the height issue, I will have a closer look later, I suspect I have just topped up the surrounding area a bit too much with gravel. With regard to the mix though, how do I know if its lime mortar? What mix of sand:cement:water should I use if I mix it myself...

    Repointing house walls

Lol ah I see, makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up. So back to my original question - to repoint/repair the mortar shown in the picture, would a product such as that shown in the original post (from Homebase) suffice - a general mortar mix. I was just a bit worried about the sand/cement mix...

    Repointing house walls

OK there may be more than one definition for it - wikipedia lists something totally different - I am just after repairing the mortar, as described here - (which does refer to it as tuckpointing!) http://homerepair.about.com/od/exteriorhomerepair/ss/sbs_tuckpoint.htm

    Repointing house walls

Here is a pic of (part of) one of the walls in question, as you can see it has deteriorated quite badly in places. Thanks again if anyone can advise on the best mix to use for this.
