    vented drains..

only one vent pipe... the one thats currently attached to the soil pipe at the back of the toilet... this is the one where the durgo valve was going to be fitted. So, i'm assuming then, that we cant use one on there? is this a definite no-no or just an advisory?

    vented drains..

redoing the bathroom, and part of plan the includes a durgo valve replacing the vent pipe, and hidden behind a cistern cabinet. But, the guy who drewup the plans didnt seem to take note of whether or not our drains were vented elsewhere, which i believe is a necessity. How can i tell if...

    bodgit and scarpa cordless drill

it was a cheapie DIY store one.. cant remember now. I was using it on very low setting for something over a long period of time, and it obviously didnt like it. I'm now tempted by a semi decent cordless hammer, but i know they're nowhere near as good as a corded for masonry ...

    bodgit and scarpa cordless drill

yep it does, but i've just remember the switch on the corded has burnt out on the low variable, so it only runs fast :) which is no good for certain hammer situations... So, its now either buy a semi decent cordless combined drill/hammer, or two seperate cheapies :) decisions decisions....

    bodgit and scarpa cordless drill

got a decent corded already... just wanted a new cordless for portability. The lidl is a big contender because of the two batteries... heres the blurb.. http://www.lidl.co.uk/uk/home.nsf/pages/c.o.20080117.p.18V_Rechargeable_Drill.ar3 unfortunately, being unbranded you take a big risk...

    shower feed

just checked, you're right, 45A stated on the switch but a 15A fuse in it. Anyway, the main CU is as follows.. Total Max : 80A Lights: 5A Cooker: 30A Sockets: 30A Immersion heater : 15A (not used). So, given that these all wont be on at any one time, can we safely draw a 45A off...

    shower feed

Hi all , got a catridge style CU with a single 45A 'powerbreaker' switch next to it that was once fed from the main CU. This 45 then went to the old stairlift in the house (overkill i know). Anyway, we need to run a feed to the shower (10.5kw) . So, i know the CU is capable of supplying the...

    telephone wiring... again

okay thanks... If i redo the wiring on the outside box, i'm obviously going to need some weatherproof connectors.. it currently has some IDC rubber coated ones on which have seen better days. I'd probably normally just solder and sleeve them, but whats the best/easiest way, and are there...

    telephone wiring... again

i dont need to change the cable i think... just redo the connections on the outside box, diconnect and remove the old cable to the pantry socket, and bung a master socket on the upstairs socket.. job done.

    telephone wiring... again

thats the thing though.. i havent messed with it.. i've just disconnected the master socket so i could pull the cable through dividing wall, and reconnected it afterwards, although its now defunct. The wiring at the outside junction box i havent touched, other than to open it up and push the...

Hi all, i'm trying to sort my wiring out on my phones.. now i know that i'm not meant to touch anything before the master socket, and i'm trying to avoid it.. but i'm also trying to avoid BT's inflated callout charges.. Heres how the wiring was set up when we moved in to the house... the...

thats what i thought.. but i thought i'd better ask to be on the safe side :) thanks for the reply.. one other thing if you dont mind.. i could do with widening the brick hole by about half an inch.. is this adviseable or am i likely to unsettle the srrounding bricks? i was just going to...

Hi all ,great forums :) I'm replcaing an air vent in the outside front wall (used for fireplace ventilation). I'm fitting a black hole vent in replacement of the current standard air brick type... Anyway, inside the current vent pathway is a stone duct. In order to fit the new bigger vent...
