    Toilet flush

Its hideousness doesn't matter as it's concealed, how does it work?

    Toilet flush

Dear all, having refurbished bathroom, flush pipe into back of pan, whilst dry, does not inspire confidence. The problem, the plumber said, is that there is a lip on the inside of where the flush pipe enters, making sealing difficult. Is there a guaranteed typ of bung, or while it's dry use...

    Whining window.

One of my UPVC windows whines when the wind is in a certain direction. It's getting past the rubber seal. Any info on how to pull the window in (adjustment screw?)would be appreciated, it keeps waking me up!

    Soil problem.

Occasionally we got a drain smell in the house. The soil pipe is completely internal, boxed in with an air inlet valve. I was advised to change it and the occurence was much less frequent. We've almost completed a bathroom re-furb, only the basin to go. The waste has a plastic bag taped over it...

    Balancing a mixer shower.

Not exactly a new subject. Refurbing a bathroom and bought taps with H & C outlet and shower output. Cold is mains and hot is off storage tank in loft. I went down this route with the intention of buying a pressure reducing valve and fit it to the bath cold feed, in order to balance H & C. The...

The only proper soultion is to lift the boards and replace the inlet and outlet with chrome microbore. Does...

    Electrocuted... :)

You probably got the shock as a result of the 2-way light as mentioned by il78 but also if you've a flourescent light on on the downstairs lights for eg they have a capacitor in them which could have put a voltage on the neutral block in the consumer unit and back out to you. il78 is right. As...

    Occassonal noise in CH

Thanks oillman, that makes a lot of sense. Where would the by-pass be fitted? Can I get away with leaving the thermostatic valve fully open which I understood would always let water pass?Or would it be best to fit a conventional valve?

    Occassonal noise in CH

I have a conventional (not combi or condensing) central heating system with 11 radiators, all with thermostatic valves. Following noise in the system and the age (approx 18 yrs) I drained the system, added a desludging agent, refilled it and left it for 4 days. It worked perfectly during this...
