Remove toilet, screed, add washing machine and sink and toilet

Hi, I have a toilet with drain in the floor. I want to screed the floor, raising it about 100mm, and add a new toilet, sink and washing machine trap. My first thought was to get an extender that will be buried in the screed. This would then join a 90 degree pan connector with boss, to connect...

Soldering - where am I going wrong?

Cheers. Judging by the big blue cone on my flame I guess its WAY too hot o_O As that's as low as I can go I think I'll need to invest in a better torch or different gas.

Soldering - where am I going wrong?

Thanks Jon, Other than wiping off excess flux, that's exactly what I'm doing. Guess I'll just have to keep practising.

Soldering - where am I going wrong?

Hi, I keep practising on bits of copper pipe (15m) but consistently get the same problems. FWIW, I'm using Yorkshire fittings but want to add a bit of solder, as is frequently advocated. Method I use is... heat up the joint (smallest flame I can get) remove heat touch solder to see if its...

    How flat/level should plasterboard be?

Sound advice, cheers Mike. For what its worth, its dot and dab, not on timber. Either way, at one point, you can actually see where the board bows.

    How flat/level should plasterboard be?

Cheers Mike. Would 3mm be an acceptable deviance in your opinion?

    How flat/level should plasterboard be?

Hi, My builders have finished plasterboarding our extension. The worst wall, the plasterboard is flat on the top half but then bows in towards the bottom. When I put a spirit level on the wall the bottom is about 9-10 mm in. I told the builder I wasn't happy and didn't expect such a huge...

Fitting new toilet close to wall

Cheers for that. Unfortunately, I've already bought the toilet as I saw a nice cheap one in the B&Q sale. I guess I'll take the old one out and see how much room I need with the new one. Then see If I can get a 2x90 or flexi connector long enough.

Fitting new toilet close to wall

I have an old toilet (see attached pic), the soil pipe is close to the wall. I have a new toilet which I want to rotate 90 degrees. Doing this would put the side right up against the wall. Can I get an "s" bend connector to fit toilet to soil pipe away from the wall? Would there be any...

    Is it load bearing?

Good news. Moved the door frame. Chiselled out a channel in the ceiling, nailed a beam to the overlapping rafters and supported with a couple of studs. No roof collapse yet!

    Is it load bearing?

Camera's broke :( Anyway, I just happened to speak to a neighbour who said they had done the same thing without any problems. From the looks of it, once I move the door forward the rafters will by lying on the new frame. I'll let you know if I have a roof in a week!

    Is it load bearing?

Hi, I have a 1930-50's build. It has separate toilet/bathroom upstairs which I want to knock through. The doors are next to and perpendicular to each other. The bathroom door is attached to a stud wall which joins the toilet and bathroom. I was just in the process of taking out the...
