    Repair laminate breakout?

Schoolboy error i was drilling some holes in a black veneer built-in bookcase and got a large chip breakout where it shows badly. Dont have the chip for an easy fix sso i'm wondering..: Is it likely/possible i could carefully use a holesaw to obtain a neat circular patch piece from the...

    Clarification on calculating pitche angles..

Thanks all. This isn't for any project i have on, i'm just trying to get my head around it all and be as ready as possible for different scenarios. I guess you'd mostly have the pitch to begin with making it all much simpler, if not tho and you want a birds mouth then i guess you could just mark...

    Clarification on calculating pitche angles..

Oops, thanks again :D I'm still struggling with something here though. If you had to work the pitch out for yourself the actual line would run from flush with the ridge beam at the top to edge of plate if there were no birds mouth.. but as soon as you add the birdsmouth you're changing the...

    Clarification on calculating pitche angles..

I just did a little sketching out and see i was overthinking it. In general now would you expect to be given a specific angle of pitch or is it more likely to be imperial? Also.. are hip/valley rafters almost always at 45 or no?

    Clarification on calculating pitche angles..

Wether you go with trig or tables.. or from the speedsquare i'm a bit muddy on this point. As soon as you add a birdsmouth you have a different angle/triangle which is either not square, or if it is then the bottom of it is lower than the plate. When/where is that allowed for in calculations...

    Compact double bevel slider?

Thanks again for the feedback. Until i'm mobile again that sounds like a handy option. I really would prefer having bevel both ways but i managed for years with a Makita 1030 so i can manage i guess. Also i spose most jobs will alread have a chopsaw or two as no point 6 of em being on the job...

    Compact double bevel slider?

I could have had one with a Dewalt stand for £100 less on Ebay but as i say it's just too damn big for my liking at the mo..

    Compact double bevel slider?

Thanks for all that. I didnt know that about the wearing detents either. The Dewalt DWS774is continues to look like a great option especially at only £200 if i put up with single bevel but maybe a 10" on stand wouldn't be too bad and i would be wanting a stand either way. Got any models in mind...

    Compact double bevel slider?

Good to know thanks. Doubt i'd be using a laser much. If it's only the heavier saws that bevel both ways then i'd probably go for something like that Dewalt and get used to cutting from the bottom of bevel but it would really be nice (and quicker) to be able to cut from the point of bevel with a...

    Compact double bevel slider?

I'm looking for a compact 8" sliding mitre saw with double bevel. I've been lookign a lot at the Makita LS1013 (i see some models with an L sufffix.. what does it denote?) but they have one on this job and the thing is a beast that needs chaining down of an evening so i'd like something a bit...

    Won't go into 3rd gear?

I've a 1989 BMW 318 that's been sorn for ages and am thinking of getting it back on the road. It was getting hard to put it into 3rd before but having had a look now it really just does not want to go at all into 3rd.. all other gears are fine. On the face of it does that give any good...

    Installing door frames

Quick couple of q's.. when putting frames in do you always aim for perfect plumb regardless of the walls? I can imagine this might lead some some less than flush finishes on occasion. If the walls are already pretty good already what about just lining the frame up with existing? Isnt it a...
