    Bare walls, options to replace....

We have taken the lime plaster off the walls, it was blown in various places, so now we are just left with brickwork. I have installed wall ties and will be placing pipe work etc getting ready for, what I thought, replying a lime render then plastering the walls. However, since it is...

Ok, so I have been looking at concealed systems to order for our toilet - nearly everything has arrived so wanted to start getting thing fitted. Looking at Grohe and Geberit they are personal preference of the brand I see with people here. Although I haven't been able to find much about the...

Concrete floor from floorboards - considerations

I saw that one, was considering that. Have arranged for a structural engineer to take a look at things - then take things from their, might need some wall ties since the upper wall has some movement in it.

Concrete floor from floorboards - considerations

Thanks, I am inclined to go with a limes screed floor cost wise isn't a huge difference in materials, what you pay for one you pay for another. The question is getting it right from the outset rather than having issues further down the line.

Concrete floor from floorboards - considerations

Are you referring to the method they use in building new houses where the ground floor appears to be made of thermo blocks? Then screed on the top of these blocks? My secondary or I should say main concern in any method is damp that may rise from the floor especially if you don't have DPC...

Concrete floor from floorboards - considerations

It is around 500mm in depth and you would need to dig out another 200mm to get to stable soil. I was also looking at alternatives such as lime screed.

Concrete floor from floorboards - considerations

I wanted to gain some opinion on changing from floorboards to a solid floor. Background - a chimney has been removed and the walls and ceilings have also been stripped back to brick. After some inspecting it seems some odd occurrences have occurred in the house, the floor joists are either...

Viessmann Vitodens 200 or Vitodens 300

Thanks for the info, just out of curiosity what is the difference between the 300 and 200 model, I can't see anything in the description other than the LAN interface and Colour Display.

Viessmann Vitodens 200 or Vitodens 300

Since the incident in the home and everything else that is going on to remodel I think it may be prudent to replace the age old boiler in the kitchen with a new one (located elsewhere). I am looking at system boilers with a twin coil cylinder for solar water. However recently I came across a...

    Cost to replace ceiling etc

The chimney is my responsibility, it's only the insured losses that they will pay for, so I was trying to proportion the difference in the cost that they would contribute towards the overall cost. Why do I need to contact the council to remove a chimney? Last time I contacted them they did not...

    Cost to replace ceiling etc

Thanks, It is just an estimate I wanted to get an idea - I was thinking more along the £2k mark with all the coving etc and redecorating involved.

    Cost to replace ceiling etc

We had an incident occur last week and I have just been visited by a loss adjuster. The issue is a simple one, I need a new ceiling, coving and paint and decorate the room. However, as I made the loss adjuster aware my intention is to remove the upstairs chimney, therefore if he approves I...

Aqualisa Digital Shower - Pressure issue?

I forgot to take a picture when I was up as it wasn't the priority for them. I will get a picture soon. I would agree on the manufacturing cost and the seals issue.

Aqualisa Digital Shower - Pressure issue?

I know the new black module has one, but I am not sure of the old grey one. I will take a look by implication I think it has one too.

Aqualisa Digital Shower - Pressure issue?

However it has gone from Gravity fed to Pressured hence why Claire tells you to change the box. Saying that - I did find this article, the unit has a button internally to change it from mains to gravity pressure. On the last page it is suggested to alter that. I also did find somewhere...

Aqualisa Digital Shower - Pressure issue?

Sorry for the late reply, was away - as far as I am away the only difference is the pump but maybe someone knows more. The boiler system changed from an open vented to a pressured system boiler with a twin coil cylinder. Hence why in theory you should change the unit from being a pumped to a...
