    Vaillant Weather Sensor help

Thanks for that - tried calling them but they didn't know the part number either, and weren't able to provide information on getting the VRC693 separately. So is it a thermistor inside? If so, what value resistance? Cheers

    Vaillant Weather Sensor help

Any ideas on which component is inside this vaillant weather sensor? It looks like moisture has got into it and damaged the component (wasn't sealed correctly), and i'm having trouble finding the replacement. From what I understand, you can't get the VRC693 (sensor) separately from the VRC430...

Chimney Breasts Removal - Two Very Different Quotes!

We had our chimney breasts removed 2 years ago, and had a nightmare with building control. I would recommend very strongly that you get a structural engineer to draw up plans and for BCO to pass them before you get any builders in. The reason for this is that BCO rejected the SE's designs 5...

Repairing split stave in wood worktop

We have a split in the stave of one of our wooden worktops around the sink, and it's bowed out slightly as well. I would like to find out if it's possible to fix the split stave using the following method:- clean out inside of stave(s) glue using high strength wood adhesive and clamp...

Watchdog AA, in case you missed it

The cynical side of me thinks this might be a good time to sign up with them since they will be trying hard to repair their reputation after the watchdog piece. Saying that though they would have forgotten by winter so back normal service!

Free Estimates and the price of fuel!

have you thought about why you didn't get the work? It could be that the customer has some unrealistic expectations, but if you're consistently getting turned down then maybe it's worth finding out why. As a customer who's had quite a bit of work done recently, I recognise that traders need...

    Grundfos HomeBooster Service

Thanks Tony - actually, I looked through previous posts on diynot and I set it up with some of your recommend settings. Mainly to keep the differential between cut in and cut out settings so the pump doesn't hunt, and charge the vessel to the same as the prv on the input to the unvented...

    Grundfos HomeBooster Service

Many thanks for this - that is very helpful. Will this work for all versions of the home booster? My display looks exactly like the one in the document. Also, are there any specific areas I can look for leaks? I think the expansion vessel is holding pressure fine.

    Unvented tank brands

We have the Vaillant Unistor (250 litres I think) with a vaillant system boiler + associated controls. Works absolutely fine.

    Grundfos HomeBooster Service

My grundfos homebooster unit is working fine, but has the 'requires service' or similar message on the screen. Is this something that is done on an timely basis or is the unit complaining about something being wrong? If you guys have any tips on what is usually checked as part of the service...

    Building control for new drain?

If we're converting our garage into a utility room for a washing machine, and subsequently need to create new drainage, is this notifiable to building control? Manhole is about a metre away from the garage, and we can get a builder to install a new soil pipe, but i'm not sure if BC need to be...

Adding PIR to Texecom premier - turning off bellbox

After the hold-off mode has been initiated, will the bellbox remember this state if power is turned off on the panel (both mains and battery) so that new zones can be added?

Adding PIR to Texecom premier - turning off bellbox

Thanks I've done a bit more research, and I think the way to do it is to turn the strobe on and off on the bell 3 times to put it into hold-off mode. Apparently earlier versions of the premier panels would do this automatically when you go into engineer mode but the new ones don't do this...

Adding PIR to Texecom premier - turning off bellbox

I've recently installed a premier 24 with 3 PIR's and external sounder, and I wanted to know how I disable everything to add some new door contacts. I'm comfortable with using the engineer code and turning off mains power / disconnecting the battery, but how do I stop the external bellbox from...

Grundfos Home Booster not going above 3.6 bar

thanks for that! There is a prv in line between the pump and the unvented cylinder so it might be that. You've given some good ideas, and I might try and isolate the outlet of the pump and see if the pressure increases then. There is a brass tap just before the prv so might try closing that...

Grundfos Home Booster not going above 3.6 bar

I have a Grundfos Home Booster fitted (the inbuilt pump and tank solution), and if I put the high pressure above 3.6bar the pump keeps going, almost as if it's trying hard to increase the pressure. If I keep it at 3.5 bar with a 2 bar differential then it behaves correctly. I'd like to increase...

    Extractor vent for Dormer

What would be a good external vent to use for a dormer roof (the vertical side)? The dormer has slate tiles, and the extractor requires a 100mm spigot. Cheers

    Loose Spindles in Bannister

We had some oak spindles fitted, which were fine, but with the cold weather the spindles have become quite loose and rattle about a bit. Is there any way to fix this? I'm not sure how they were attached, but as they were fine before, I think this is to do with the wood shrinking a bit. cheers
