How to secure loose block paved steps

Thanks very much. Never thought of that. Does it bond to both the block surface and the sand / cement mix underneath?

How to secure loose block paved steps

Hi All, We have steps leading out from our back door which are made from block paving. A couple of these blocks have come loose and I'm looking for advice on how to secure them. Strangely, when I look under the loose blocks there appears to be no cement stuck to them. Can anyone offer some...

    Multitool recommendation needed please

I was thinking about that but I'd prefer to own a tool, even if it'll only be used once or twice a year.

    Multitool recommendation needed please

that would ruin all the walls and turn it into a nightmare of a job. 1947 house with skirting boards to match...non starter!

    Multitool recommendation needed please

Hi All, I want to undercut my skirting boards to fit laminate flooring. Can anyone recommend a make & model to look for? Nothing too expensive as it won't see a lot of use after the bedroom has been done. Thanks Daz

Advice on laying laminate around fitted wardrobe needed please

The doors are around 50mm above the floor. I think I'm going to lay the boards tight against the plinth as the tongue on the boards are only about 3mm wide and wouldn't show. I'll leave an expansion gap on the wall opposite the wardrobes.

Advice on laying laminate around fitted wardrobe needed please

Hi All, I've removed the carpet & underlay from our bedroom and want to install laminate (Quick Step unless someone tells me otherwise). We have a floor to ceiling built in wardrobe and as per the diagram below my first row will be laid against the base plinth as this is the longest straight...

Staining and applying Bona waterbased lacquer question

Hi All, After much hard work removing old paint from my staircase I should be in a position on Monday to start staining with Liberon water based stain in dark oak. Once this has dried, I'll be using Bona lacquer, probably two coats will be needed. The question I have is, given that the Bona...

Having a real tough time removing what I think is old carpet glue from stairs...advice needed pls!

Thanks for the replies. I've managed to get rid of all the old paint layers with a heat gun and a scraper...bloody back breaking work. I'm going to start sanding tomorrow with 40, 80 then 180 grit before staining. Worst comes to worst we'll end up with a darker stain in the middle...nothing I...

Having a real tough time removing what I think is old carpet glue from stairs...advice needed pls!

I guess I don't have much of a choice but trying to melt the stuff on and sanding. Can't buy the decent Nitromors anymore and probably wouldn't want to use it due to the fumes.

Having a real tough time removing what I think is old carpet glue from stairs...advice needed pls!

We bought the house around 25 years ago and had it completely redecorated and can't remember what was on the staircase but think it was all carpet. The people we bought it off had lived in the house since it was built. I understand in the 50's it was common to have a carpeted runner with painted...

Having a real tough time removing what I think is old carpet glue from stairs...advice needed pls!

There's some other stains of the same colour as you can see too. I'm hoping that once I come to put my dark oak stain down it won't be too bad but in the meantime I've got to find a way of getting rid of the undercoat of that's what it is. Are you saying the dark staining in the middle is...

Having a real tough time removing what I think is old carpet glue from stairs...advice needed pls!

Here you go. The top image is the untreated tread & riser, the bottom one after heatgun, scraper and 40 grit (and a lot of hard work!). You'll notice there's 3 shades of what appears to be paint, the darker coloured brown stuff is what's causing the problem and may not be glue, perhaps...

Having a real tough time removing what I think is old carpet glue from stairs...advice needed pls!

Hi All, I've removed the carpet from the stairs with a view to sanding down, staining and then applying a lacquer finish. The house was built in 1947 or thereabouts and I'm going to assume the original carpet runner was stuck down with the edges painted. The problem I'm having is that even...

Looking for a replacement fixed shower head...do I have a weird size?

Hi All, Our fixed above bath fixed show head needs replacing. I took it off this evening and it appears to be a 22mm thread. All the websites I've been on seem to only sell them suitable for a 1/2 inch fitting. Am I going to need to replace the arm as well? Cheers Daz

Fitting a new bath with existing tiles...advice needed

Sorry. Thanks for the reply. I was told that you shouldn't seal on a tile because of the grout. It can form a weak channel and then start leaking. Is that right?

    Acrylic bath recommendations wanted

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to go either for a Carron or a Trojan bath. I can't afford their Trojancast or Carronite finish so hope their 'standard' baths are infinitely better than say the Cooke & Lewis baths on the B&Q website.
