The idea behind this is to warm the floor during cold months, along the path of kitchen cabinet.
The kitchen is flat floor so no step.
Have not bought the heating mat yet, so don't have instructions.
I'm trying to install about 4 SQ Meter of underfloor heating in my kitchen and my sub-floor is concrete but will have tile on finish.
Can anyone tell me apart from heating mats what else I need, though not sure which watt is suitable.
Also what type of insulation board and where is the...
Thanks for the reply. :)
We're installing a new heating system with a combi boiler and new 22mm pipings and replacing all old rads, does the system still need to be flushed? This corrosion inhibitor, is that essential? I asked him about fitting a filter, he replied that these are extra and...
Thanks for your reply.
With regards to heating, he is the cheapest, hence my worry that he might skip flushing and filters on the new boiler.
The problem with traders is that they can bullshit their way if the customer has no clue if they're needed or they're not needed.
Hi All,
Just getting a new heating system installed in our new terraced house to replace an old system boiler.
Vaillant eco tech 831 combi boiler
6 new raditors
22mm pipings
The engineer will supply and fit new equipment and remove existing heating system and old pipes.
The concern...
Thanks fellas,
Just came back from house being renovated, builder was dissapointed when I told him that he should get the larger plasterboard. His face gone red when I told him, maybe due to extra effort required to put them up by him and his mates, and will ensure he used screws to fix them...
Thanks for the reply.
Will insist on him to fit the larger version at least on the lower floor and maybe 9.5mm on the upper floor. Thinking to put rockwool on the lower floor for added thermal and sound insulation, what do you think?
I am removing an old lath and plaster ceiling in both downstairs and upstairs but confused as to which type is best. My builder is suggesting the smaller size, as he says that's common in ceiling and 12.5 is mainly for walls :?
However, I think he should fit the larger depth, at least in...
Roy, I've reading a bit more about plastering depth and most recomend 9 or 12.5mm thickness of the board, the latter is mostly prefered. So 20mm could be very thick indeed.
Cheers Roy for your reply and kind advice.
I think I'll just put normal insulation between the joist and will put carpets and underlay upstairs, which will be be the case anyway.
So people do use insulation on ground floor ceiling, I had thought people don't bother and only put insulation...
Thanks for the reply Roy.
I'll do that for the Bedroom ceiling and lay insulation blanket via the loft and lay between the joists.
Now for the lounge and hall way ceiling, can I put insulation between joists before plasterboarding, for soundproofing, which would be the main purpose. Do you...
Iam replacing a bedroom ceiling and lowerground lounge ceiling. The house is a 30s terraced house. The ceiling lath and plaster will be replaced by plasterboard and then skim over it.
Now the insulation, is it normal practice to get plasterboards that have built in insulation or do you add...
Just them in a diy store for shower panelling, looks good for shower walls, instead of glass surround, which get dirty after each shower, these looks like requiring min cleaning, if any.
Any thoughts or comments.
renovating my new purchase.
The onething that I know is that I don't like slippery tiles, the gloss type, where you're scared to walk in case you slip.
What types are in fashion these days, can't afford expensive tiles. Will fit carpets in living room and stairs and bedrooms.
Just purchased a terraced house in London and see that the front down pipe is shared with the neighbour and the water ends up in my front.
The prev owner built a pit filled with dired barks, where the rainwater soaks away. It looks ugly and now I am having a driveway done, can I ask the...
Thanks for the reply.
What do you think of Aqualisa, better than Mira in terms of quality.
Grohe I take it beats all of them for quality and reliability?
I am also searching for a mixer shower to work with a new combi, for new house renovation.
I've been looking at Mira range but the one that has the classic round shower head with built in valve is Mira Elemantal BIR. Is this any good with a combi? Don't mind spending more for quality but do...
I'm trying to get the whole house skimmed, a 3 bed mid terraced house. The price quoted was £2k, is that resonable?
Also after skimming, how many times do I have to paint and what types?
