Isolating valve appears to have stopped working

Hi Guys, Just fitting a monoblock tap to a new basin, the pipes were fitted with isolating valves then a bit of copper pipe and plastic stop ends. I took off the stop ends and had the equivalent tap slightly running downstairs while I fitted flexi pipes and a compression joint. No water was...

    Leaking bathroom sink

Thanks John I'm a bit worried that the sink is a bit out though as there is a biggish gap under one side, do you think this matters? would the silicone still keep it watertight? The waste is chrome the white plastic collar came with the robimatic.

    Leaking bathroom sink

I bought the robimatic seal from B&Q but now i can't get the bottom part to screw on through the sink as that seal is very thick, the waste doesn't have a very long tail. Is there a seal that is as good but a bit thinner, also i wasn't sure what the white plastic collar was for, any ideas? Thanks

    Leaking bathroom sink

Hi, I'm just fitting in our new basin and the water is escaping with the plug closed, i think the waste does not fit properly as it has been tightened but there is always one point where my nails fit under it quite easily, is this normal for it to not sit perfectly? I think the nut on the...

    Spacing problem on travertine tiles

I sealed them about 6 months ago, when I also did the ones for the shower, do you think I need to seal them again, they have just been sat in a box, before I grout or should I just do it after grouting?

    Spacing problem on travertine tiles

I'm in the middle of tiling and i'm having second thoughts with the layout. I've layed 200mm x200mm tiles then a border then I was going to finish it off with a row of 100mm x 100mm tiles. Problem is the smaller tiles are 101mm which throws the spacing out, the large tile I used 4mm...

ok yeah bit of a mistake there completely forgot that it can't do that if the powers off.... But where abouts can you get the part as i can only find places that sell the whole solenoid assembly and thats around £35 - £40. The shower seems to be working again now, but it can only last so long.

Never tiled before, does this plan sound ok?

I'm not good with power saws, i don't like the kick back, if the hand saw will do it i might wimp out and use that. We don't have a sink at the moment, but when we come to fix it would a good quality masonary drill bit be ok to drll through the tiles? Does the layout i drew out look ok...

Help electric shower won't switch off

Is it possible for a novice to change the solenoid, or would i need an electrician or plumber, also where would i get the part. When i say over heated i mean that the water gets too hot and the shower cuts off to stop you from getting scalded, i had a pants electric shower in a rented...

Help electric shower won't switch off

Hi, this morning our electric shower would not turn off even after it was switched off from the isolating switch the lights in the shower turned off but not the water. I then turned off the switch in the circuit breaker and that still did nothing, ran back up to the shower and then about 10 to...

Never tiled before, does this plan sound ok?

I got muddled the border will be above the sink, not below it, i've drawn a little plan, but it is not in line with the sink, do you think that would look ok, I wanted to keep the cutting of tiles down to a minimum. I had read the sticky first which was useful, i'm just a little nervous as I...

Never tiled before, does this plan sound ok?

Hi, I've been doing our bathroom up and am finally on to tiling behind the sink. As I always seem to miss something important I thought I would post plans first then if I'm doing it all wrong you guys can tell me before I balls it up. The tiles are a 4x4 square of 200 x 200 x 10mm travertine...
