    I used my own pot of Zinseer coverstain and hey presto the stains are blocked. I wonder what they did use, or just 3rd time lucky...

    Thanks for input and helpful info. I read somewhere that when a plumber needed to raise floorboards on an install they used a crowbar to raise the screwed down floorboards and ruined the boards/joists. So I need to have the correct screwdriver ready ! just in case

    Carpenter used star head spax screws to fix trad floorboards to joists. i don't have a star screwdriver so what do I need to buy if I need to raise a board?     I've chucked the pieces now. They had lime plaster on the back so they felt substantial with layers of paint, but just seemed like embossed 'wallpaper' to me.

    Fabulous story Pete. So that sounds like it means it's a pre-1963 pattern. I'm quite sad that my wallpaper's days are likely limited now. It looked great until the accident.
