    Central heating system flush

The blocks will dye the water blue or green, the bleach will be so highly diluted it will not do any harm, just make sure you get rid of all the dyed water incase you have a spill or a leak later on.

    Central heating system flush

Add a small piece of blue toilet block to the header tank and allow it to dissolve before you start, That way when the water starts to run clear you will know that you have flushed the whole system through.

    Rusting radiator and pipes help

You can buy a rust preventer from Halfords which will turn the rust black and stop it spreading, This can then be over painted with a good quality paint. I would maybe look at a paint that is speciallly designed for a salt water envoiroment such as International? You could try the smoothrite...

The stuff on the copper pipes will not be rust as copper does not rust. Would it not be adviseable to sort out the reason why your marine tank is dumping its contents onto your radiator?

Connecting a room stat to an electric plinth heater

Thanks John, I have seen some higher rated room stats but was unsure whether they would do the job, or the best way to wire it up. Could I just switch the live feed to the heater with the stat and use it to switch that?

    Heating Pump and Rad question

Turning the pump speed up may make the rads heat up a bit quicker, but they will not get any hotter. You need to turn up the boiler thermostat to make the rads hotter.

Stone cold radiator - tried just about everything!

No, you need to leave the system in full operational use with all rads in service with the heating on and then just work on the one with the problem. If all the rads were shut, the water would not circulate and the boiler would cut out on over heat.

Shower mixer problem and radiator problem

The constant build up of air in the sytem may be due to a reaction taking place between the diferent types of metal in the system. This can be prevented by draining and refilling with the addition of an inhihibitor such as Fernox or Sentinel.

Stone cold radiator - tried just about everything!

I know thats why I suggested that he made sure the room stat was set high enough that the 3 way valve would be directing water to the rads.

Stone cold radiator - tried just about everything!

Dont worry about touching the motorised valve. Just shut off and remove the faulty radiator and try flushing it through. You can then also open the valves up 1 at at time and see if water comes out of those. The water can either be collected in a bowl, or: If you have an outside tap with a...

Stone cold radiator - tried just about everything!

The radiator may still be partially blocked. But still has enough let by to gradually fill up over time. Have you tried to remove it and take it out in the garden and put a hose pipe up its arse to see if the water flows through it?? Whilst it is off, you could also try and open ~BOTH the...

Bottoms of radiators not getting hot

Having a restriction so close to the exchanger will certainly cause you problems, it would have the same effect as a clogged exchanger restricting the flow.
