    Polycarb roof

Many thanks for this. Can't quite remember what thickness of poly it is. Will have to see. Have found the closures online. Seems counter-intuitive to put plastic over breathable tape. Why would you need both?

    Polycarb roof

Hello I have a polycarb conservatory roof which leaks. I had my chap put silicone along the spars externally but there are still a couple of leaks. I believe there is 'gasket tape' that can be used to seal the joins. Could anyone recommend a brand or comment on the process generally. I thought...

    Scratches on plastic bodywork

It's 2 degrees in Yorkshire tha' knows! Besides. I like to be thorough. Have now been further confused by being to to use autoglym super resin polish rather than clear coat. Any views? I know, you hate me, dontcha. But to fail to prepare is to prepare to fail. That was positively the...

    Scratches on plastic bodywork

PS... Degreasing - fairy liquid or something like white spirit? Now all I have to do is wait for a warm dry day. In Yorkshire.

    Scratches on plastic bodywork

Bless you, my son. I'll let you know how it rolls. Look out for question entitled - 'clear coat didn't work - how to strip it off and apply silver paint'.

    Scratches on plastic bodywork

Thanks for helpful advice. Applying correctly means... several light coats, keeping the can parallel to the surface to avoid loading in the centre... anything else I should be aware of? Do I need to sand between coats? And is there any place for the rubbing compound I bought - should I use...

    Scratches on plastic bodywork

Had a prang a couple of weeks ago which caused lots of fairly deep scratches on my wing, which is plastic, and my door, which isn't. Followed instructions about sanding round them with coarser and then finer grit wet and dry paper with washing liquid and water. Got rid of scratches...

    Cracked plastic repair

Thanks. I expect I'll have to buy about half a kilo of the stuff just to use a pea sized amount for the cracks! Still, a better price than a new wing! Bonus question - when I'm painting it, do you happen to know how to get silver paint to look 'proper' and blend in with the surround? Thanks

    Cracked plastic repair

Hi After a contretemps with a lorry last week, I came away with two hairline cracks along my wheel arch. This is a 2004 citroen and the wings are plastic. I'd like to make neat cosmetic repair but not sure how to fix the cracks. Wonder if there's a strong tape I could put behind it or some...

    powerflush, new trvs or magnaclean?

I'd like to thank Kevplumber regarding his advice on not bothering with powerflushing. I went for a chemical flush and valve replacement, which didn't fix the problem, although there was sludge. We then took the t-junctions off beneath the cylinder to see if they were congested. They weren't...

    powerflush, new trvs or magnaclean?

Re boiler - I can only tell you I've got it at just above 4. There's nothing more technical than that inside the boiler that I can alter far as I can see. The house stat is at about 18. How would you tell what needed a chem flush and what needed a powerflush? I don't want to spend a packet...

    powerflush, new trvs or magnaclean?

Clearhead - yes - they all come on individually, except two, if I shut the others down. I've tried balancing, but no joy. Not always clear which is the in and which is the outflow. The tail pipes are various heats depending on which radiator but mainly warm. I have got four of the 11 on...

    powerflush, new trvs or magnaclean?

Good question. The handwheels move but some of the other end (lockshield) won't budge. I think that's what happened. I know a pair of molegrips and a hammer came in handy. And I had to put my undies on over my trousers.

    powerflush, new trvs or magnaclean?

some don't move. I guess they're all leaking to some extent hence the verdigris.

    powerflush, new trvs or magnaclean?

Hi I have radiators that won't heat up when all switched on. Individually they all work fine, but once all on, they're all cold. Pipework is microbore which is green with verdigris and so are the valves. Boiler and pump work fine. Tank is a combined system on the first floor (one of the things...
