    Have you considered using something like this.....probably better than using a flexi coupling.........your local merchant should be able to get you one / or ebay ?

    Try plugging the phone into the master socket, if it still does not ring then call your telephone provider ( BT or otherwise ) Have you tried another phone ?

    There is likely to be a battery in the bell-box also and removing the power from the panel will trigger this.
