Cooker switch OK to locate under worktop?

I have looked at relocating switches to other side side of wall but it would be a massive upheaval. Back to plan A but with all your suggestions (much appreciated). My only worry now is closeness of cooker switch/socket to hob. I have read that 300mm is the minimum allowed. Does anybody feel...

Hi all - I have had electricians in to do most of the electrical work in an extension but as I am struggling with budgets I am doing the wiring for cooker and hood. I will get a qualified electrician to do final connections. I feel confident about most of my routing but am worried about...

Yep - the penny dropped big time before I could announce my revelation! That is one sink solved - however, my wife also wants a BIG butler sink fitting and for that I guess I'll need 40mm P trap. Any suggestions where I get sink wastes for 40mm trap? The ones on screwfix don't state...

Ouch! Plasson push fit with missing pipe insert

Arrh! Thanks for your enlightening reply. I admit to being a doughnut but it still doesn't excuse a stupid tamper proof nut design! (there is a £20 quid tool to unscrew this nut so the connector can be be reused).

Ouch! Plasson push fit with missing pipe insert

Hi All, I just pushed a 20mm water pipe into a Plasson Plass One copper pipe adapter (20mm / 15mm). Half a second later I realised I'd forgot to insert the pipe liner. The pipe won't come out because the oh so clever designers have made it "tamper proof" to defend it against all the evil...

how to finish row of slates on hipped roof

yeah - the one in the photo looks bad but there is only about 5 in 2500. At the end of the job I was searching my pile for a good slate. The whole job was set back by receiving a couple of pallets of ropey slates. The accessible ones were ok but later on they turned bad - cracked, frost damage...

how to finish row of slates on hipped roof

Thanks Palaceray and Colin. Too late to add batten bits now and don't fancy stripping the end slate of each row (thats 150 slates!) to make room on the end of each batten - so looks like I will have to hole the slates to get a fixing. Thanks for your help.

how to finish row of slates on hipped roof

Thanks Colin, ouch! - I knew I had missed a trick. Is it normal then to just nail the triangular bits on with a single nail on the end of the batten? Or is it one nail in batten and then another in spike job? I like the sound of "Mark an x on the front trace to the back of slate" but...
