    Renew TNT Sat card

I've tried the French websites, but they only appear to accept addresses in France. Bizarre, given that the card is in support of a product that broadcast by satellite to most of the globe. But that's a very French way of doing things....

    Renew TNT Sat card

Hi all, A few years back I bought a Strong TNT satellite box so that we could watch the Tour de France in French. Unfortunately the decrypting cards only last for four years and mine has now expired so I need to replace it. It seems you can buy them in France for € 15, but they're about £40...

    System losing pressure

Hi, The boiler is a Myson Velaire, located downstairs. I think I've found the PRV(s) - see photos attached. The tank and everything else I've given photos of are upstairs in the bathroom. Items in these to photos are attached directly to the outlet I attached in the previous post. I never see...

    System losing pressure

Hi, The boiler is oil fired from the eighties. I've been outside, there are no pipes poking out of the wall. If I look behind the boiler, there's a pipe to and from, but nothing that would vent into a waste system. I had the closed system with a tank installed a couple of years ago. The...

    System losing pressure

Hi all, I have a closed central heating system and the pipes to and from the radiators are run between the joists (upstairs) and under the screed (downstairs). The system usually runs at a pressure of 1 bar, but over the course of a couple of weeks, the pressure in the system slowly declines...

    Never heard of L4 before....

Hi John, Yes, you're right, it's part of a three-switch system, I'll have to get the right replacement. Thanks for your help. Jever

    Never heard of L4 before....

Hi all, I have a house full of plugs and light switches that are old/broken/don't match the others and so I am going through the house swapping them all for new ones. I have a single two-way light switch at the top of the stairs that I want to replace. However, when I opened it up, I noticed...

    Uploading a video

Hi, yes, did that, thanks. Couldn't believe the amount of other people who'd filmed strange noises that their boiler was making. Jever

    Boiler startup noise

Just as an add-on to my earlier comments, I've referred back to the invoice for the job and it specifically lists a 22mm auto by pass valve as part of the job. Is it possible that the plumber's fitted it, but it's not evident from the video?

    Boiler startup noise

Hi Mr Benchmark, That's really helpful information, thanks. I took a picture of the side of the motor box just to check and you're right, it's an ESI product (see file attached). If I'm honest, I'm not certain if the valve's the right way round or not, but looking at the plumbing, there's...

    Boiler startup noise

Hi, That seems a rather basic error, considering how much I paid the plumber to do it. Would I be right in thinking that the arrow on the brass casing in the attached photo should be pointing upwards, so that the water flows into the coil? Thanks for your help, both of you, by the way. Jever

    Boiler startup noise

Hi all, A couple of years ago, I had my water system changed to a direct feed system, so that I no longer have any tanks in the loft and the heating system is now a closed system. It works quite well, the pressure's good, but there's one really annoying problem. Every time the boiler fires up...

    Uploading a video

Hi all, I have a problem with my water system and wanted to upload a short video (about 40MB) to show the guys on the plumbing board. Is it possible to upload a video file to my posts or might it be best to upload to Youtube and provide a link? TIA Jever

Why's that? Will 720p not give me enough resolution?

    CCTV for oil tank

Having ranked them by review feedback on the Screwfix website, Nightwatcher systems seem to get the best reviews, so I think I'll probably go for one of these: https://www.screwfix.com/p/nightwatcher-nw-4ahd-1tb-c720-2d-4-channel-cctv-dvr-kit-2-cameras/4749t or one of these...

That's helpful, thanks. Do you install these systems?

    CCTV for oil tank

Yes, I'm planning to use two cameras, each about a foot past the two ends of the tank, looking down from a height of about eight feet. I can then run the cables into the loft above the garage where I'll keep the recorder.

    Floor leveller on plywood

Hi, Just to follow up on this, I put a layer of adhesive down to fill the low areas, left it to dry and then came back and laid the tiles. I originally had an 8mm dip in the floor, which I reduced to 4mm with the first layer. Additional adhesive in the low areas whilst laying the tiles means I...
