    Tiling tips and advice please!

Hi All I have read various 'how to' guides on tiling and have gotten the idea of what I need to do but I have one or two questions I am hoping you can help with. 1. When marking out the tiles on the walls, should I do it on a wall with nothing on it or on the bath wall? I am asking...

    Bottle Trap

Hi All Thought I should close the thread off with the conclusion and thank you all for your help. The Homebase 'designer' style bottle trap fitted this waste fitting perfectly. It's the 1 1/4" one NOT the 1 1/2" standard PVC one I had. Hope this helps someone else! Thanks again to...

    Shower Head Fitting

Hi All Yet another question from me.... Ordered a shower fitting which arrived yesterday. I can't see how this would fix to the wall? It's a regular 1/2" tap fitting on the end but the collar (which still has the protective blue wrapper on it in the picture) doesn't act as a stop against...

    Bottle Trap

Thanks for the suggestion, I did ask them. They said it's a 'standard' UK waste fitting which I know it can't be as it doesn't fit the 'standard' UK PVC bottle trap. The thread is about a 1mm pitch and I think the standard UK waste fittings are about a 1.5mm pitch.

    Bottle Trap

Hi my luck no one round here has the chrome ones in stock.... have just ordered one from Homebase. Let's hope it fits!

    Bottle Trap

Hi all I ordered another one from another company which arrived today.... it's the same bloody thread! There's got to be something I'm missing here - could it be possible that only the chrome bottle traps fit these fancy push button waste fittings? The plastic traps certainly...

    Bottle Trap

Yep it certainly seems that the waste is the problem. I read somewhere else that there are some of these being sent out with european threads on them. I'm guessing that's what this one is. I'll get a UK one if there's no workaround - don't want to bodge so I guess that's probably the best...

    Bottle Trap

Thanks to all of you for the suggestions will try and answer all below :D I can tighten it up but the pipe going to the bottle trap isn't sitting flush against the bottom of the waste so I can predict that leaking like a sieve! Compared the click-clack waste i've got to another...

    Bottle Trap

thanks for the reply. I'm test fitting it all at the moment so there are no other pipes involved and I'm holding the waste and bottle trap in my hand to make sure it's all in line. I'm a mechanic by trade so I know I haven't cross threaded it. The threads are still fine on the bottle trap, I...

    Bottle Trap

Hi All I've got one of these fancy glass basin thingys, looks nice. They supplied a click-clack push button waste with it. Ordered a 32mm antivac bottle trap for it from Screwfix but it seems like the threads are different. It will start to screw up to the waste on the bottom of the...

    Mother of all airlocks??

Hi to both of you I've managed to sort it though I'd like an explanation as to how this happened - I'm confused! :? Missus is at work at the moment so could not remove the rad without some extra help... closed all the valves and tried to force the lock out through the rad already before...

    Mother of all airlocks??

Thanks Kevplumb, is it ok to leave the AAV open so it keeps dripping or should I close it for now?

    Mother of all airlocks??

Hi All I'm always draining down my central heating system and refilling after fitting new rads here and there. It's always been a b*gger to get rid of the airlocks on this system so I'm kind of used to it. This time I have been trying to get rid of an airlock for the past 2 days! It just...

    Flexible pan connectors

thanks for that Kev, so the black rubber part gets pushed into my soil pipe going out of the wall? ..and the other end goes on the pan spigot? Still can't see how I'm gonna have enough space to push the toilet up against the wall and align the pipework... help?! I guess i'm...
