Advice on accessing roof with ladder

Thanks guys. In hindsight, perhaps it was a bit risky for me to do myself. Instead I held the ladder and sent my wife up. 5 minute job in the end. She pulled out the cracked tile and popped the new on in... so all sorted now.

Hi there Just after a bit of general advice. Since moving in to our new house last summer, I've become increasingly aware of the condition of the bricks below the level of the damp course and wondered whether this should be a cause for any concern. I've attached some photos. I appreciate that...

    De-soldering copper tee

Hello I have a small leak that weeps from a tee just up from my stopcock which splits to take water to an outside tap. Unfortunately I've had to cut a hole in the plasterboard to get to it. Anyway, I want to replace the tee ideally with a new soldered one. Am I right I assuming the...

    Tap removal

Hi there Does anyone have any idea how to remove these style of taps? I have taken the covers off the back of each tap and see there is a small grub screw which can be loosened with an allen key. So I've loosened one of the grub screws which has dropped out and fallen into the inside of the...

    Reuse solvent weld strap-on boss?

Hi there I fitted a new soil pipe on the outside of my house at the weekend and thought i's done a pretty good job. The pipework cosnists of a vented 3" down pipe. I've joined a 40mm waste from my shower at the top of the pipe with a push fit strap-on boss which appears fine - no...

Steel to copper pipe - plastic pushfit in CH system

not sure if they are steel or stainless steel tbh. Cant remember what the guy said. It sounds like some sort of threaded dielectric union might be the best way to go then. I have also seen these that claim to be suitable for copper and stainless steel...

    hollow sound under tile

Hi there just had new 60x60 porcelain tiles laid in our dining room/kitchen. I notice that one of the tiles gives a hollow noise when tapped in places (possibly in 60% of the tiles area) which i know means its not bonded in these areas. what do people think? is it best left well alone? or...
