    I guess that price was not to your liking - lol score and snap are very fast but dont cut angles - so if your cutting a few a diamond bladed tile saw will be more apropriate. Im by no means a pro like some guys on here but Im not bad for a DIYer and mine has done me ok over the years...

    yea sure do, just trying to get a good finish that hasnt got embedded dust in it. so just sand brush of and paint straight over the top - I'll give it a go but sounds like my finish will be poor ie full of dust particles

    After I've filled and sanded the imperfections in my walls do I need to seal the filler prior to washing down and then papering? as I've filled before and when I've washed the walls down the filler rubs away

    Re artexing over silk emulsion

    when you plaster an artexed ceiling surely this is just the same, you give it a coat of PVA to make it tacky then replaster. :? Wont the silk have just sealed the artex, if it was done right and a watered down first coat of silk was used and further coats then added.

    you can but will be a lot of work, treating knots, priming, filling, sanding and then painting or buy a new doors for about £15 to £20 already primed then you have to fit it or have them fitted If cost is the issue paint your old doors if not buy some new ones

    Painting floorboards white

    Get some white eggshell, hard wearing and wont yellow like gloss. Over paint it with acrylic varnish matt or gloss - depending on the look your after. Dont forget to prime them first - you dont need undercoat for eggshell

    If the skirting is painted and not stained you could fill the gaps with decorators chaulk, just use a mastic gun squirt it in and smooth it off with a damp sponge, then paint over.

    The house was built around 60's, all solid walls with plaster, no board anywhere except ceilings. What type of smell do you mean? only a wet plaster smell, its quite tough to sand and matt looking - I see it all the time on those house auction shows - its mainly yellow or a duck egg colour...
