Ryobi High Energy Battery - 3Ah vs 4Ah?

Actually I do have a use - we have an old clothes line pole made of beautiful reinforced concrete. I'll take a week off work and get to it with the angle grinder and SDS drill... :D

Ryobi High Energy Battery - 3Ah vs 4Ah?

Not really. Battery came out in december but having said that, I've notice the angle grinder kit comes with a 4Ah and that's £130. Battery is £65-70 on its own and...everyone needs an angle grinder right? ;-)

Ryobi High Energy Battery - 3Ah vs 4Ah?

I've begun the expensive descent into Ryobi tools. Impressed with my cordless circular saw, I am in need of an SDS drill. The Ryobi is sold bare and so was going to get something meaty to go with it, but noticed that the 3Ah is nearly the same price as the 4Ah. Clearly the 3Ah is newer with...

    Thank you!

A big thank-you to all that have advice over the past couple of weeks on my radiator install especially but in no particular order @polesapart, @ianmcd, @Lower, @Madrab, @Nige F and @JimCrow. So far...so good: I'm glad I persevered with the bends as I think it made the runs cleaner in the...

    First pipe bend paranoia assurance

Well I'm paranoid as **** an just turned the system back on. I'll let you know how my bends hold up. Huge thank you to everyone who has contributed.

    First pipe bend paranoia assurance

At what point does a wrinkle become a crease? I've miss measured another section and need a gentle bend to help but I worry there's a bit more of a crinkle  I might try another piece of pipe...

    First pipe bend paranoia assurance

I'm ripping metres and metres of old copper off the wall and was considering reusing it - although it is caked in black sludge on the inside. Well....maybe not caked but certainly I cannot get it off with a pipe cleaner. But I think I will keep this around just in case :D

    First pipe bend paranoia assurance

So while I was at Screwfix i decided to try a pipe bending spring. I bought a bunch of fittings - 90 degree bends etc. but understand that not using them may be better, flow of water etc... So, me being totally paranoid about my nascent plumbing skills want an honest critique on this... It's...

Old compression fittings - leave well alone?

I've been diagnosing some heating problems and found that we had 5 radiators coming off a 15mm feed, part of which was setup in a series. No wonder the last two didn't get hot. We will soon be dot and dabbing over a wall where some of these pipes come down, and I have decided to cut the series...

Filling the header tank makes a foghorn noise

Only 1, with a cylinder for hot water near the boiler. Unless there's one hiding somewhere?

Filling the header tank makes a foghorn noise

It was your response that prompted me to look at the stopcock replacement. Thanks though, even if the header tank valve didn't need replacing there is a new one in there now.

Filling the header tank makes a foghorn noise

Here. Sorry if it's not clear.

Filling the header tank makes a foghorn noise

I did...read up! ;) It didn't cure it though. TBH the old one wasn't that old - it was a Part 1 though. But it had a blue float - this is important - and I think that is not at all attractive for a sealed cold water tank so I replaced that with orange. So when I next open the tank up in 10 years...

Filling the header tank makes a foghorn noise

Stopcock came out manky covered in black nonsense. The washer seemed ok but I decided to replace the tap part completely. The compression fittings were not moving and I don't think it was worth it for me to be hitting them with hammers to free it up if the tap and washers change worked and it...

Filling the header tank makes a foghorn noise

For educational purposes, what's the issue with a gate valve? Just picked up a replacement stopcock from screwfix. Let the mayhem begin...

Filling the header tank makes a foghorn noise

Should I really replace this with a gate valve / new isolation valve? Been reading that the high pressure may be a problem for the stop cock?

Filling the header tank makes a foghorn noise

It is the former. When I drain the system I'll add it to my list to replace the washer ;-)

Filling the header tank makes a foghorn noise

Done and replaced but unfortunately not cured. I partially drained the system and once again the pipes are screaming. The vibration feels like it's coming from below? Maybe I should use the master water feed for the system and not this valve?

Fitting solid wood floor to chipboard?

Where this all started was exposing an old hearth under the floor boards (I have another thread on here). Now I am left with this: So now my plan is; fix additional timber to the joist that has been cut, removing the rest of those partial boards. Cut an inch off the plasterboard allowing me...
