Success again. Managed to get my van box of nuts to just catch the nut. Didn’t need to buy a long nut wrench around 22mm. So it’s off and doesn’t look too bad. Do I clean it with vinegar? I will regressed the washers.

Success, I got it off. But now I can’t access the nut to get the cartridge out. Any ideas?

I want to remove the brass nut so I can clean my shower cartridge. It’s a brid tan valve from 2011. I’m using my big ratchet but the nut will not move. I don’t want to force it. Could I use silicone spray to help it? I tried putting some vinegar around the nut but no difference

Different angle. The top left of the stairs will contain a cupboard, so not open and the rest of the area will have a stud wall stopping you falling.

Does the newel post have to sit level with the highest step or could you set it on the second to last step? The photo shows the post would go where my tape measure is, but if I set it back a bit I get more space to get into the room.

Having a think I am going to stick a hopper in at that corner and run a drain pipe down until I get lower to the ground and then angle across and drop into the down pipe round the corner. This will mean replacing that down pipe in black plastic as well (a job we were doing next year anyway)...
