connecting to a section of mis-shapen pipe

Thanks guys. I think I might invest in a gas torch and give a soldered joint a go first then.

Any ideas for a narrow doorway?

Bingo! I knew there was an easy answer. That should work perfectly. Somebody else suggested I use one of those roller-shutter doors that pull down from above and are made-to-measure which I was almost sold on, but I think I prefer your idea.

connecting to a section of mis-shapen pipe

A push-fit coupler that connects to the 15mm copper tail pipes on my Kitchen tap is leaking. I tried a new pushfit coupler but no luck and on closer inspection noticed that the tail pipe has been crushed so is not perfectly round. The problem is worse higher up the pipe (closer to the tap), so...

    Where can I buy 2 x tiles?

Don't they normally sell them by the pallet load?

Any ideas for a narrow doorway?

I'm wanting to make my garage water-tight. Part of that will be having it re-roofed, but I'm struggling to figure out how to get a good seal around the door at the rear of the garage. The problem is that the passage is too narrow for a standard door, measuring just 550mm. I've attached a...

    Where can I buy 2 x tiles?

Hmm, was hoping I wouldn't have to wander into a builders merchant yard and ask for 2x tiles.

    Where can I buy 2 x tiles?

Really stupid question, but none of the usual DIY places seem to sell roof tiles. I only need 2 to replace a couple of cracked tiles.

Tool for cutting copper pipes in-situ

Is there a tool out there that's good for cutting 15mm copper piping with limited (about 20mm) clearance behind it? Getting a square cut with a hack-saw in a hard-to-reach spot feels almost impossible (for me). I want to use speed-fit on the cut end.

    Shower Pump Selection

I just had a salamander 1.5Bar installed. Sited on a concrete slab with carpet either side for damping. It's housed in the airing cupboard in the bathroom and I'm very happy with the noise levels - you can barely hear it ouside of the bathroom. That said, the plumber who installed it usually...

"undoing" wood glue & removing skirting

yeah but I have bought a matching set, I really like it and spent ages looking for one that would fit in the alcove (haha). Returning it is a last resort.

"undoing" wood glue & removing skirting

Had a wardrobe delivered that won't fit in the alcove it was bought for (measurements on website were 10cm out!) To try to squeeze it in I'm thinking of removing the skirting board on one side of the alcove - what's the best way to do this? I'm thinking lift the carpet and lever from the...

    teething problems folowing boiler install

Since I had a new boiler installed my central heating has been noisy and also seems to be drawing in air. Even after bleeding the radiators it is noisy - sounding as if it has iron-fillings rushing around in it. It is possible that the power flush loosened crap up but wasn't done fully so...

    draining into my neighbour's guttering

My neighbour on the other side drains a small first storey sloping roof into my gutter already. Really I just wondered whether there was any rational reason why somebody would care.

    draining into my neighbour's guttering

I want to re-roof and hence "water-proof" my garage. Currently it's more of a lean-to with an opening at the rear of the roof to provide access to a downpipe that takes rainwater into a drain inside the garage. In order to avoid having to move the drain (and hence reduce cost) I'm thinking of...

switching from cold water tank to mains

If you're going for a pumped shower you should just get a twin impellar pump and pump both hot and cold gravity feeds. The mixer you found should protect against the pressure difference problem, but won't guarantee a decent showering experience.

switching from cold water tank to mains

Generally speaking I gather having unbalanced supplies isn't a good idea... Is there a shower in this 1 bath, 2 sink, 2 toilet bathroom? If you supply cold from mains and hot from a gravity fed system you'll be in for some pretty cold showers unless you get a venturi shower mixer. You...

Converting cold feed shower to Power shower

Why on earth is there a 9.5kW electric element heating the mains water supply on demand when you have a 20kW+ gas combi capable of doing the same thing!? Why would anyone install a combi if it's not supplying DHW on demand? Is the electric shower the only one in the house, or is it in a loft...

    Salamander or Techflow pump?

RSP50 not powerful enough!? What were you pumping? I just had one installed and the shower is great.

new door at the corner of our extension

I want to put a door through to the garage in my kitchen. The gap where it could go is quite small and would involve the door frame being only 10cm away from an internal corner, which forms an external corner on the outer wall. I read that there is a regulation regarding the proximity of new...

    boxing in pipes

I've been wondering about that. I was thinking of using a heavy lining paper over the lot.
