get some T2 red trace heating cable, thread it into the condensation pipe oand out the end, terminate so the end cant get wet, then power it from the frost thremistat. It only heats to 65C, so wont melt the pipe and its cheep, £4 a meter.

There is a air release i think on top, it looks like a air valve thats fitted to a car poking out of the case, there is no cap on the screw thread.

As a quick fix, you could turn down the main water into the house at the main stop tap.

But why does it bang? the water in the upstairs pipe shouldn't even be moving, its 11m away. The water to the machine would, like electric, take the shortest path of least resistance, so 3m from supply cock, not 11m from a closed tap? <confused> I really cant take the floor up.

Hi, My gravel boards are 25mm thick (1"). The panel is 45mm thick. Do you normally align the gravel board in the middle of the panel, or flush with the front, or back edge? stupid question really, im thinking of aligning it with the centre of the panel.
