Central heating and water not working at all

get some T2 red trace heating cable, thread it into the condensation pipe oand out the end, terminate so the end cant get wet, then power it from the frost thremistat. It only heats to 65C, so wont melt the pipe and its cheep, £4 a meter.

As a quick fix, you could turn down the main water into the house at the main stop tap.

Fitting a water to water heat exchanger to a cdi28 combi

HI, I changed the heat exchanger and the safety overflow pressure valve. The heat exchanger was fairly straight forward, no problems. Didnt grease the o-rings (was i suposed to?) Had a slight leak from a pipe behind the differential pressure switch (the white disc with 2 flexible...

Pipes banging when washing machine fills

Been looking at pressure reducing valves. Whats a good bar value to use for the washing machine? Might fit one to the incommer of the house as the gas man said the boiler cant heat the water fast enough because the pressure was too high last time he was here (we only get warm water unless you...

Pipes banging when washing machine fills

Hi guys. Thanks for the responces. I can turn the stop cock down to reduce the pressure, but then the toilets take ages to fill up (i think thats a seperate problem). Would a check valve or a double check valve (whats the difference when using them?) in line with the upstairs pipe be of any...

Pipes banging when washing machine fills

But why does it bang? the water in the upstairs pipe shouldn't even be moving, its 11m away. The water to the machine would, like electric, take the shortest path of least resistance, so 3m from supply cock, not 11m from a closed tap? <confused> I really cant take the floor up.

Pipes banging when washing machine fills

Hi. When the washing machine starts and stops taking cold water, the pipes under the bathroom floor bangs -- only one bang when the machine starts taking in water, then another bang when the machine stops taking in water, followed by a oscilating sound, like the pipe is wiggling up and down...

Hi, Im plumbing in a radiator in the kitchen (it gets very cold in there!) at the moment, and will be doing this work asap. I have to change a few other rads, but not at the same time because i need to take the floors up etc. So, i thought i'd fit a drain cock in the kitchen as its the...

    Should i wack the ground?

Hi, Dug out a hedge with a digger, and now going to drill 2ft holes where the hedge was for 4" posts / 6ft fence. Should i wack the ground before drilling the post holes? Its quite soft soil and its 18" until i hit clay. Using a petrol hole borer to drill the holes.

Paslode IM65 or IM350 for feather edge fencing

OK, so now im thinking that air would be a better choice, since i really could do with 40mm nails rather than 50mm that the paslodes use - the feather are going onto 2" studs. So the question changes... What air nailer do you use? I looked on toolstation, the dewalt ones look nice, the...
