Strange white powder on back boiler

Hi We have a Baxi Bermuda 401 back boiler, has been running fine for years, but pilot light went out at the end of last week and I couldn't relight it. So called in the Corgi engineer today. He took off the fire at the front, and diagnosed the problem immediately, the pilot was clogged. Not...

What type of wall material is this?

Sorry for the bad pics Woody, taken quickly with my mobile phone. The 2-3mm refers to the patterned board at the front. The plaster? board behind is about 12mm thick. The plaster? between the paper crumbles very easily where it's been cut. Alex

What type of wall material is this?

Right folks, an update. Rather than going in at the light switch, I removed a intra-room vent above a doorway as this would give me a better idea. Sure enough, I now have the following pic. The hatched pattern looks to be part of a laminated board (only around 2-3mm thick overall, and behind...

Hi Woody Although it looks embossed, the surface is absolutely smooth. I will take out a light switch and check as you suggest. Alex

What type of wall material is this?

Thanks for all your feedback I've tapped the panels with a screwdriver and there's no metallic sound, just sounds like if you tapped a plaster wall. Back of my hand to an area which has the paint scraped off is not cold, back of my hand to where it is painted is not overly cold. This wall...

What type of wall material is this?

We've moved into a house (originally built in 1972) which needs a fair bit of decorating. The previous owner has made a bit of a hash of painting the interior walls, so much so that I can scrape back the paint that's been applied to them. I've attached a couple of photos. When the paint is...

    Crumbling Grout

Thanks Richard I think I will give the Bal Superflex Wide Joint a go as this seems to be the best match for what I need. If the problems re-occur then we'll have to look at re-laying, but we'll cross that bridge if we come to it. Cheers Alex

Hi guys Any recommendations on a good flexible floor grout available in grey? Is Bal OK? Traditional grout or epoxy? Many thanks Alex

    Crumbling Grout

thanks for all your replies folks i have been looking at the bal range of grouts which appear to be quite highly thought of. looking at the microcolour range with admix GT1 additive or is it worth using something like easypoxy? it is quite possible that there is a wee bit of flex in the...

    Crumbling Grout

Hi All We had a new bathroom fitted in December last year. Very pleased with it in general, but having huge problems with the floor grouting. It's only a small floor area (4ftx5ft), and we noticed the grout crumbling (but only in certain areas, generally those with the most traffic), around...
