    Potterton Suprima burner

Hi all. I've got hold of a spare suprima, which I'm dismantling in order to get the heat exhanger out. I can't get the burner out. The manual says "disconnect the one screw, then hold the burner on the right hand side and pull forwards to slide it out of the casing" (or similar wording)...

    Potterton Suprima Question

Hmmm you sure? I read the operating manual very carefully and the process of changing the HE doesn't seem particularly complicated, and I was sure you didn't have to touch anything gas related. I'll have another read, and I'll also practice on the second hand boiler first (which ain't...

    Potterton Suprima Question

Well assuming (hoping...) that the heat exchanger is the same, I'm going to have a go at changing that myself. I've read the manual, it doesn't seem overly complicated, and there is no gas components invlolved. Is there anything obvious I should look out for?

    Potterton Suprima Question

As an aside... Assuming I wanted to get an engineer to completely replace my existing suprima with another one. It'll be the same boiler, with all the incoming pipework connections and flu at exactly the same locations. What kind of job is this? How much labour, etc?

    Potterton Suprima Question

Damn - you really think the heat exchanger will be different? I just bought a second hand Suprima 40 in the hope that I can replace the heat exchanger in my Suprima 60... :(

    Potterton Suprima Question

Hi. Potterton suprima boilers come in a range, from 30-100. The service manual for them is the same as are many of the parts. Does anyone know what the difference is between them, and which parts of the system are likely to differ? Thanks for any advice.

    Ceiling repaint

Hi all. I live in a maisonette, and recently we had a few problems in our kitchen which meant some leaking water went through to the downstairs neighbours kitchen. Their ceiling now has some rather nasty yellow stains on it. I've promised to rectify this, and will be repainting it for...

    Leaking boiler

Well the leak sealer seems to have done the trick, the heat exchanger has stopped leaking. How long do you think this fix will last for? Is there anything I can treat the outside of the heat exchanger with that may stop it corroding further?

    Leaking boiler

Its a Suprima 60. Yeah I've got the stuff and about to attempt it. The new heat exchanger is in excess of 200 for the part alone - ouch.

    Leaking boiler

Thanks Ian - yeah I posted the reply on a different topic as no one seemed to be reading this... The leak is coming from the Heat Exchanger - it seems to be corroding on one side. My plumber has recommend I use some Furnox (or similar) which he thinks may stop the leak in the short term -...

    Suprima Heat Exchanger

I've taken the front cover off my Suprima 60 and found out what looks to be wrong. It seems the Heat Exchanger has corroded and is leaking water. It;s a very slow leak, an intermittent drip. I'd like to know if anyone has seen anything like this before... it seems strange, as it's a hefty...

    Leaking boiler

Hi, just had a mini boiler disaster. The neighbours complained of a damp ceiling, and I discovered brown water was dripping from the boiler. Its a Potterton Suprema. Of course I immediately turned it off and switched the mains off. I had a look inside and a pool of water has gathered at the...

    My expanding front door

Yes like I said, with woodstain which says on the tin that it seals it. Is there something better I should use?

    My expanding front door

Hi, I have a timber front door which keeps changing shape. Last winter I had to move the position of the latches and locks, and shave some timber off the edge, as it just kept expanding. This winter it's worse. Two weeks ago I did the whole exercise again, and shaved loads off the edge. Now...

    Lifting floorboards

Hi. I'm going to have to lift some floorboads this weekend. Can anyone advise on the best way to do this - the tools to use, the best position to lift then, and where to cut them if necessary (and with what?). Many thanks for any help.

    Electrical fault

Thanks. Assuming I do find a wire with some worn out insulation, is it acceptable to insulate it by wrapping it in insulation tape, or should I replace the wire?

    Electrical fault

But what I find confusing is, it's the lighting circuit. Why would a lighting cable be running under the floor?

    Electrical fault

Hi all. My brother has an electrical fault which I wonder if you could advise on. He lives in a first floor flat. When he walks through his hallway, more and more frequently the lighting circuit fuse goes, and he has to go to the fuse box and reset it. The fuse box is next to the landing near...
