Copper pipe or plastic pipe for central heating

Copper would always be the first priority however I know full houses plumbed in Plastic in for heating and other well over 20 years and never a leak. It does work. You will here stories of some fittings failing but if done correctly, there shouldn't be an issue.

Slight issue with door threshold! 30mm out

It's not the height I'm looking to make up. The door threshold is 30mm below what it should be. The double door was made to big by 30mm and if I keep the floor level as should be , then it's above the door threshold. In that room I could lose 15mm of a slope in 4m length and 15mm in the...

Slight issue with door threshold! 30mm out

150mm . It's the finished floor level coming from existing house to the furthest away location of the new extension which has a double door is the issue. I can't see how insulation depth would effect this.

Slight issue with door threshold! 30mm out

Been building an extension these last few months in different stages. Foundations where out 25mm over an 8.5m length which isn't much. The block layer was supposed to take this out in his beds of mortar which he didn't! The window supplier measured of the dpc level when he measured for the...

3 questions, sani flow, waste pipe and pipe from sink

Yes I understand this. I did forget to mention the distance I have is 2.4m, insulation is 150mm with 75min of screed. That's 225mm height to play with for the fall. If I do get the fall, is it possible to connect it to a tee for the other toilet just before it leaves the exterior wall.

3 questions, sani flow, waste pipe and pipe from sink

I think I will have the fall and do away with the saniflow. Is it possible to run the 4inch pipe from this small box room, along the floor in the other ensuite and connect a 4inch T to go out the wall and come up for another toilet.

3 questions, sani flow, waste pipe and pipe from sink

As the title says, I have 3 questions. The first is to refresh my memory about the 90d bend for the toilet waste. For it coming up through the floor, isn't it 150mm of the wall to the center of the pipe. A sani flow toilet in other section of the house where I can't get a 4inch pipe. Is it 1...

Can I use plastic shims to pack up

Was worried incase the plastic shims compressed under loading and went with slates in the end. Maybe a bit over thinking on my behalf about the plastic compressing but i always want to do things right first time around.

Warm roof and Installing osb plus cutting my own firring strips.

For my bottom deck I have 8x4 sheets of 18mm OSB for installing on my 150mm insulated warm roof onto 9x2 joists spaced 400mm apart. When installing my osb onto my firring strips, how many nails(with the nail gun) should i use for each board. The reason i ask this is when im screwing my 200mm...

Can I use plastic shims to pack up

For a flat warm roof on an extension with a parapet all around, my block later is out by 30mm on one corner of the building and 10mm on the other side. Not happy one bit but he's been paid and gone! 2 options I have now is to shutter this out and fill with either sand and cement or concrete...

What size and type nails for the timber to timber joist hangers. I picked up some strong hex screws in a hurry when purchasing the materials but they don't fit the hole size in the hangers. Going to get the correct nails. I've used twisted nails when using truss clips, would these be similar...

How much weight can insulation take on top. Building on top.

I do understand this however we will be using the thermal lite blocks which are very light. I wouldnt think they'd put much pressure on the raft.
