What size and type nails for the timber to timber joist hangers. I picked up some strong hex screws in a hurry when purchasing the materials but they don't fit the hole size in the hangers. Going to get the correct nails. I've used twisted nails when using truss clips, would these be similar to what's used for the hangers. 25-30mm .

Also, the hangers I have, have a protruding out piece at the back bottom of it which slips under the joist with a hole in it. I'm assuming this is for setting without the need for a hanger jig to give guidence of exactly where to nail it without them being up and down.
