    New oil boiler and Evohome

Thanks for the reply Dan, sounds like the Evohome will be better, I can probably just install it myself, I'm pretty competent with electrics. How well does the wireless work? We're in a very old house with thick walls, our wifi works fine going up through the floors, it struggles a bit getting...

    New oil boiler and Evohome

Morning all, We live in a three floor property, the current system is setup with a zone valve for each floor, this is then controlled through a three way timer and TRVs, there is no master thermostat, it relies on the boiler stat for starting/stopping the boiler. The boiler is a Worcester Oil...

    New Combi or Unvented Cylinder?

Very useful, thanks! We're near Banbury. Puller - I've never even heard of Hounsfield, how well known are they? I wouldn't like to fit a boiler from a company that might not be going in 5 years as I could imagine spares could be a nightmare. How do they compare price wise with the likes of...

    New Combi or Unvented Cylinder?

Very interesting replies. Thanks all! I must say I've been impressed with the hot water flow so far from the combi, but as Mr Puller has said, it's only two of us, if we're replacing the boiler we need to account for 15 years which means kids, which means more showers etc. Think I'll try one...

    New Combi or Unvented Cylinder?

Thanks guys that really helps. Presume a system boiler has two circuits one for DHW and one for CH where as a regular is a single circuit that you use with a 3 way valve?

    New Combi or Unvented Cylinder?

Evening all, We've currently got a 15 year old Worcester Oil Heatslave 18/25 Combi, it's working fine but we're about to replace the kitchen and in order to make the kitchen work properly we either need to move the boiler by about 12" or fit a smaller one. So I'm thinking that if we're moving...

    A smelly soil pipe

So perhaps might be worth digging it all up and redoing it with a new pipe through to the manhole.

    A smelly soil pipe

Evening all, We've recently moved into a new house and have been finding that at certain times of day we get quite a bit of odour in the bathroom, the soil pipe comes through the external wall and then is boxed in to the toilet, I stripped the boxing off and found the odour is coming from...

    Which staple and hasp?

Thanks all. I've already spoken to the insurance company and they're OK with a normal staple and hasp, I just wanted to make it a bit better for my own piece of mind. Thanks for the kind offer John, I'm quite far away from you though, so will just go with the strongest I can get locally. Think...

    Which staple and hasp?

We've recently moved and as a result a lot of my garage stuff is in an outbuilding until the garage is sorted. I'd like to up the security of it so want a really heavy duty, almost angle grinder proof staple and hasp to fit to the door. I've already fitted some hinge bolts, but now the other...

Fire protection of garage door lintel

Can't use plasterboard as it's outside. The garage door is a roller shutter and is attached to the rear face of the opening. The lintels are supporting the front walls of the extension, a room above the garage. I've found a product this afternoon...

Fire protection of garage door lintel

HI all, I'm in the process of getting my extension signed off by building control and the only thing outstanding that's a problem is they're stating that the lintels above my garage doors (normal catnic cavity wall lintel) need to be fireproofed, even though they're on the outside of the...

    Vaillant boiler - Online/remote control

Thanks for the replies guys, i've emailed Vaillant about their intelligent control as the information about is pretty poor. How would you use the Salus with the vrc430, i thought when using the 430 it took over all control of the boiler. Thanks

    Vaillant boiler - Online/remote control

HI Guys, I've got an Ecotec 837 being controlled by a VRC430, which is ok, but there's times when I go away for a day or two when it would be really useful to turn the heating off/on remotely. Do Vaillant do any sort of system that allows for internet control yet? Or is there a better sort of...

Anyone know of a boiler that will run on Methane?

Which is what we do. Apologies with the typo, its a half megawatt CHP, not a half milliwatt lol, I beleive on this particular site, its all exported to the grid not used on site. And yes there are back up systems for when the CHP is down, this is the boilers I talked earlier. However...

Anyone know of a boiler that will run on Methane?

Theres already a 0.5mW CHP on site, however the heat from it is used for parts of the process on site, there isn't really any waste heat available, it may be an option to install a smaller unit in addition to it for the admin block heating though.

Anyone know of a boiler that will run on Methane?

Ok then, biogas, I know its different to natural gas, as some of the boilers we use for heating parts of the process run on it but require different burners.

    Photo's of my CU change

Nice and neat. Our of interest does the bus bar to the RCBOs and the two feeds to the RCDs all share the same terminal?

Anyone know of a boiler that will run on Methane?

I'm doing a bit of a feasibility study for one of my sites at work, the admin block is currently heated by electric convector heaters, i've worked out this is costing us approximately £14k/year. As the site is a sewage treatment works we have a plentiful supply of methane, so i'm considering if...

I'm jsut looking to install my window boards, but can't seem to find a pre cut/rounded one of the right depth, the window recess is 220mm or so deep, so i really need a board thats about 240ish so that it has the bits that protrude each side.
